Screenshot app is not working

Hi All,

I am running the latest version of Mojave and my Screenshot app just started not working. I tried restarting my macbook, resetting NVRAM, I checked screenshot shortcuts and dropbox settings.

The problem is when I double click or try to open the Screenshot app, nothing happens. The screenshot key combos do not work either. I can't take a screenshot with Preview. However, I can make a screen video recording with quicktime.

Any idea what causing this? Can I download Screenhot app from elsewhere without having to re-install the complete osx?

Thanks.

Sorry I missed the previous post with the Etrecheck report.

You have several system extensions that could affect the handling of screens. To compound things, they appear to be rather old:

/Library/Extensions

DuetDisplay.kext (2.1.2 - SDK 10.10)

Line6Audio.kext (7.6.7 - SDK 10.7)

SoundGrid.kext (9.7.99)

/System/Library/Extensions

APExtFramebuffer.kext (1.6 - SDK 10.8)

AirParrotDriver.kext (1.8 - SDK 10.8)

The last two are even installed in /System/Library/Extensions

These are the most likely cause since by their location they may load even in Safe Mode.

If you snapshot application is not working no reason to worry about it. You can try to take screenshot of your MacOS Mojave with some inbuilt features.

  1. Press Command + Shift + 5 on your keyboard to bring up the screenshot toolbar.
  2. Click on one of the following: Capture Entire Screen, Capture Selected Windows, or Capture Selected Portion to capture exactly what you want. Selecting Capture Entire Screen will take a screenshot immediately unless you set a timer.
  3. Click on your window or select your screen portion if you chose to capture something other than your whole screen. Your screenshot will be taken as soon as the selection is made.
  4. Control-click, right-click, or two-finger-click on the screenshot appears in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  5. Use the contextual menu to choose where to save the screenshot, send it, show it in the Finder, delete it, or mark it up.
