New Macbook screen flickering

So I just bought this macbook 2 weeks ago (newest macbook pro 13 inch) and every once in a while there will be a flicker across the screen in the middle and it will be gone in a flash. Is this my computer or the OS????? really don't want to have any more problems, I bought this one after my last macbook's screen cracked randomly on its own.

Many other users (myself included) have reported similar behavior from their 2019 MacBook Pro. Try turning off True Tone and "Automatically adjust brightness" in System Preferences -> Displays, see if the problem persists. I did this about a week ago and haven't experienced the flickering ever since.

Even if this takes care of the problem for you, though, I would suggest contacting Apple about it. It's really important that they look into it and fix it in a future software update (if it is indeed a software problem, which I'm guessing it is). Besides, not being able to use True Tone and auto-brightness on a brand new machine is quite unacceptable.

This exact problem is happening with my new MacBook Pro (2019). I just dropped $1,300 on this computer and I’m super anxious because it consistently flickers every 5-10 minutes. It’s almost like an instant flash of static about 1inch wide, in a horizontal line across the center of my screen.

I’m lost about what to do. It seems to occur more frequently when I’m on split screen and full screen mode (which is basically always).

I bought my computer less than 3 weeks ago, which means I still have apple care guarantee. Should I see an authorized retailer or visit a Genius Bar?

I'm also having this problem. Bought it in Sept. 2019. Noticed a few problems along the way, but lately, it's been happening A LOT.

I saw that some people were solving the problem by upgrading to Catalina. I would rather not do that because I have some software that is not yet compatible with Catalina. Not sure what to do, so following this thread.

I'm also experiencing this problem! I have the new Macbook Pro 13in 2019 that has the touch bar. I bought it sometime in August/September and I treat it like a baby, I'm so careful with it. I use my laptop every day for school, and see this happen while I'm using Powerpoint or Word Document. I've only noticed it once or twice but seeing this it's an issue for many others, I'm worried it might get worse. Considering I just bought this, I can't afford to get a new one or already send it off for repairs.

I actually updated to Catalina and my screen keeps flicking too. It is like it turns TruTone on and off very fast, intermittently. It's not a big deal, and that's why I don't turn TruTone off, but I'd like it to get fixed :) After all, it is a very expensive piece of equipment. I moved from windows computers because I was tired of buggy stuff and I still have my hopes high for the apple

No mine was not fixed. I literally tried all the possible solutions out there--contacted apple services four times. And at this moment I cannot go to store for service -- this is the last option left.

I do not think Apple is taking this matter seriously enough. Very likely it is a software issue but when I talked to the Apple service rep, they were like given the volume that MacBook was sold, it is expected sth like this could happen--they still think it could be an isolated problem with low frequency of occurance.

I request the rep to escalate this to the engineer team and I humbly request everyone here also contact the apple care to request the same. Only if we all voice out, Apple might consider to fix this bug.

I did contact Apple, but no Idea when I'll be able to get my laptop to the store with the lockdown.

I was sitting in a very sunny spot yesterday and got annoyed with the auto brightness adjustment washing out all colors on my screen. Apparently this function changes gamma values too when the brightness is already at maximum and the environment still gets brighter.. I disabled the gamma part of the auto brightness based on this page: http://www.mackungfu.org/el-capitan-s-crazy-gamma-adjustments-photographers-beware

Since, I haven't seen the flickering reappear, but I suspect it to return anyway..

I just received my new MacBook Air today and while I'm watching the Apple TV + programs like HOME and SEE, I noticed flickering. Sometimes there would be a green screen or shape too. It would blink sporadically and sometimes would go for a while without any. Very strange. I searched on google and one remedy is to change the cursor size to large and then back to normal...

I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro just over 1 year ago and had the same flickering screen issue from day 1. Apple Support ran diagnostics twice and assured me there was no problem and it wouldn't cause any issue. 1 year later (2 weeks outside of the warranty), the computer bricked (right after a furious flicker). Apple replaced the logic board and when I got it back, guess what? still flickering. I'm pretty sure this is a known issue that they haven't gone public with.

Does it look like this? https://streamable.com/zwnhg3

I had this screen flickering from day 1 of buying my new MacBook Pro. I had several diagnostics run and they said there was no problem and it wouldn't cause any harm. 2 weeks outside of the 1 year warranty, it bricked after a massive flickering session. I sent it in for repair. They replaced the logic board. When I got it back, the flickering was still there.

My 2019 MacBook Pro 13” has been doing the same thing since the week I got it. I have tried every reset/fix on this thread. I can’t come in due to COVID-19. This screen is driving me insane. It’s a strip almost exactly and inch wide and across the whole screen about 2 inches off of the bottom of the screen. I can’t send it in because I’m in nursing school and need it. SOS

Please do call Apple (if you haven't alr) and ask them to escalate this issue to their software engineer team. This is mostly a software issue but if Apple does not think this problem is affecting many ppl, chances are they will not do anything.

All we can do is to let Apple realize how serious this problem is and how wide spread this problem is.

As you can see from this forum as well--sending the laptop back for hardware fixing does not solve this issue. A software update with the bug fixed might be the only way to solve this problem.

How often does the glitchy flickering happen. On a given day, does it start during streaming a movie or other video.. or does it happen random. What makes it worse..? Because the only issue I’ve had was with Energy Saving mode and it was from the Mac trying to switch between an energy efficient graphics card and the high quality one
