New Macbook screen flickering

So I just bought this macbook 2 weeks ago (newest macbook pro 13 inch) and every once in a while there will be a flicker across the screen in the middle and it will be gone in a flash. Is this my computer or the OS????? really don't want to have any more problems, I bought this one after my last macbook's screen cracked randomly on its own.

Many other users (myself included) have reported similar behavior from their 2019 MacBook Pro. Try turning off True Tone and "Automatically adjust brightness" in System Preferences -> Displays, see if the problem persists. I did this about a week ago and haven't experienced the flickering ever since.

Even if this takes care of the problem for you, though, I would suggest contacting Apple about it. It's really important that they look into it and fix it in a future software update (if it is indeed a software problem, which I'm guessing it is). Besides, not being able to use True Tone and auto-brightness on a brand new machine is quite unacceptable.

Thx for sharing. Mine is like ajst47, completely random. Also tried all the trouble shooting steps.

I guess your method might work for someone and is worth emphasizing. However, if it does solve the flickering problem, Apple should take it seriously and solve this software bug in the next update release. Because it is clearly a software bug then. But they won't do so unless we bring this issue to their attention.

Still flickering after a second time sending it in for repair. This time I was told no hardware repair was needed. After pressing them, one agent said they "reset" the software. So, not convinced they did anything. Even though that was my 3rd attempt at repair (first time in Apple store), they are saying I have to send it in yet again....grrrrrr.....and each time I get it back, I have to reload everything. Not a happy customer.

No worries. I'd had flickering issues for years with Netflix on full screen. Did three things in the past few days, one of which seems to have solved my issue. 1. Recently uninstalled flux (third party app as a precursor to nightshift) 2. Installed a new battery (factory one was up to 600 cycles) 3. Calibrated new battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5ZMLInLE-Q --> followed that process to the letter.

Like you, I'd get flickering even when plugged in. Might be worth checking battery health and calibrating on the off chance it works for you.

You definitely need to send it in for repair. Contact apple and describe your problem. No guarantee they'll fix it the first time, but they warranty their repairs for 3 months, so if they don't get it fix, you'll have another 3 months to send it in again. Mailing it in is the easiest, as they pay for shipping and it's almost always back within a week.
