App Store update problem

Uninstalled app with holding icon down and touching x ,and reinstalled app. Solved

You don't appear to be updating an app, you are upgrading the app to a new paid version. You also appear to be trying to get a discounted price for the new paid version, however, you can only get the new paid version at this discounted price if you own a license for the previous paid version.

Is the older version of the app on your device?

ASC - Late 2012 Mac mini, macOS 10.14.6; Watch, series 3 cellular, watchOS 5.3; iPad Air 2 & iPhone 8+, iOS 12.4; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 12.4;  HomePods, audioOS 12.4 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2

FYI, reinstalling does work but only temporarily. I reinstalled the 8 apps that were misbehaving but started getting the exact same error message once again on the exact same set of apps... Can someone in customer support at Apple investigate this issue please?

Same problem! No matter which app I try to update I get the same message, including the free apps. "This discounted price is only available to customers who own a previous version of this item. To purchase this item at full price, click Buy." If I try to 'buy' the app I just get the same message over again. What's going on?!

This is ridiculous to say the least...some of us have hundreds of apps. As of now, I have 42 pending app updates and every one of them I’ve randomly tried appears to give an error message. Apple needs to get this together ASAP. With all the apps I have, my thumbs could .....by the time i try to uninstall and reinstall pssshhhh not happening!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t deleting the app deletes all the data? How does reinstalling the app “fix” anything when I have to restart from scratch?

Funny this all seemed to start when they started forcing Apple Pay onto everyone.

Same problem Waze, google drive, google calendar bring up "discount" message

apps will not update get popup "discounted price on available to customers who own a previous version to purchase click buy"

these are free apps when try to click buy nothing happens

Man same for me I am trying to update my Fortnite (lol) and it pops up this is so annoying! I need to playyyyyy!

And of course my other apps

So how do we update it to the normal update like we used to and not on a paid version?

So now what? Starting from now do we have to reinstall the app every time it needs update?
