icloud id locked

I have tried to unlock my apple id with iforgot and they say they will advise me by email to my locked icloud account!

How useful is that?

There seems no way to get around the account recovery time. Not very good if I rely on my phone for business.

I need to turn off Find My Phone before I can return it for repair via Tesco insurance, and as the phone is totally dead I can only do this via the icloud account which is locked!

It just goes round and round in circles, eventhough I now have the correct password it is still locked.

Security is fine but this is a joke!
