Thanks for letting me know. Trying to track the problem down. Mine also works when not connected to wifi. Can I ask how many airport devices you have on the network? I have 10 and I I am wondering if it’s a layout problem.
Hi, just had the exact same issue on iPadOS.
Only way I got the app to stay open is to immediately pick one of the displayed airport or time capsule devices. I get prompted for my password and then the airport utility app works normal.
Otherwise it crashes within 1-2 seconds after open it.
However, this is no permanent fix.
Ever since I have upgraded to iOS 13 and all upgraded all my other devices I now cannot use the Airport Utility App on my iPad (13.1.2) or iPhone Xs (13.1.2)
Every time I go to log into my airport extreme via the apple airport utility app I put the password in and the app closes down straight away on both devices.
I have called apple support and they have said that the airport utility app from the App Store is not compatible with the new iOS updates. and its a software issue.
Surly apple should have checked there own apple apps worked on the new iOS software before anything else.
Not totally true. I have same configuration minus an ethernet connection to the Airport Express running as a bridge or network extender. My desktop Airport utility runs fine, but my iPhone version on a new iPhone 11 Pro and latest iOS 13 bombs when you are asked for the network password. Help!
I found a workaround until Apple corrects the bug.
Untinstall the app and reinstall it.
Reopen the app and when the app asks you if you want to save/register the password, answer yes. The app will crash again but next time you open it, it won’t.
The bug seems to be in the password handling by the app.
I tried this and it crashes and does not open again without crashing. If you toggle the Wi Fi scan option before opening the app it will not crash (until you open again without toggling the Wi Fi scan as I noted).
Me too. Ever since changing to iphone 11 i’ve had lots of glitches. Latest is airport utility crashes. Try to enter psw and closes. Deleyted and reinstalled App - nothing. Ios is latest ver 13.1.2 so no bug fix there. Apple help!!!
I have a new iPhone 10Xs and new iPad Pro. Can not access the Airport utility with either one. The app opens, but when I open to see the airport info, it asks for password. I enter password, then the app closes immediately, with no warnings or notices. Both the iPhone and iPad do the same thing. My Mac mini running latest OS, is able to enter the airport utility with no problem. Do I need to change passwords or reboot? What is the solution?
I did turned off scanner and all on that page. It worked momentarily. Unlocked, then I went to my second Airport (they are linked) then it went back to previous behavior. I believe this is a bug....
Worked with Apple support airport specialist. We fixed the problem. Here is how. 1 delete current Airport Utility. 2 Go to General, Reset, Reset Network. Do the reset. Reload Apple Utility from Apple or Cloud. Shutdown iPad/iPhone restart same. This fixed password/utility login issue.
Sorry it worked for me perfectly. The key is the app delet and the complete network info reset in the General section, Reset Network Settings. The iPhone/iPad will reset and reboot. You then need to login to your network. Then reload Apple Utility.
No luck. There is no wi fi after the reset. It self restored the old settings. Perhaps a factory hard reset of AirPort Extreme and express then reconfig the network using airport on my Mac once it picks up the generic network
You have log back in to your network, after the reset. It removes all network settings. It will not change settings on the network devices ie airports. That can only be done by access to them directly. To factors are at play. Removing airport utility and the reset to clear out extraneous setups data.
Followed your instructions step by step, and even after logging in to the WiFi network it’s a No go.
The intestine thing is my other phone is running iOS 12.4 and the Airport Utility App works just fine!!
So even there is improvements in IOS13, im going to wait a while before I will be updating my other phone.
Nope. No. The instructions do not work. And, alternatively, it will be a nightmare if I’d have to reset every AirPort device (I have two Extreme and two Express), since Apple does not allow to change the channels except in the Base Station. When there’s a blackout or even I’d I have to reset the IP modem when the internet comes back and sometimes the channels of the repeaters change and I have to disconnect and connect the base station and sometimes the devices until they are in the same channel.
Did not work. The graphic which shows how are the devices connected to the internet is also always wrong. The lines from the base station to the repeaters are supposed to show as dotted lines since they are connected wireless. They show as regular lines, which would mean they are connected with Ethernet cables, and they are not. It has been like that since the problem started, so that’s another sign that things are not working correctly. Also, why in my old iPad Mini 4, updated to iOS 13.1.2 it works perfectly and not in my newer devices (iPhone 11 Pro and ZiPad Pro 2018? It has to be a software AND hardware incompatibility.
