Unable to rearrange app icons in ios 13

In this video I put the Icon in the middle of the screen. Also when I swipe to the left or the right the screen shifts but the Icon doesn’t move. Https://youtu.be/0eCN2SexYyY

my iphone 8 is not corporate owned and I never used it with iTunes in a Mac or PC.

Thank you to PaulTJ for that solution. Though if someone needs to use Zoom they will be sort of stuck trying to rearrange a lot of apps won't they? Anyway, I was really annoyed with this until I read your solution. Now I can get things reorganized on this new phone which now has room for my ridiculously large collection of apps.

The lingering concern would be for anyone using Zoom to access the screen due to a visual impairment. That is what Zoom is for after all. However, Apple does have a special customer support section for reporting such things. I even noticed that one of the bugs/concerns I had for VoiceOver users has been addressed in iOS 13. I'm guessing the people complaining are programmers and could resolve all bugs in the blink of a mouse. <eg>

I just discovered a setting that will make toggling zoom much easier.

1. Tap Settings
2. Tap Accessibility
3. scroll down to Accessibility Shortcut
4. put a check by Zoom in the list of services by tapping on Zoom.

This will enable triple clicking the Home button to disable / enable zoom. No more having to go in and out of settings to toggle3 the setting. Even when Apple fixes this bug, enabling this is a nice feature to have as this will allow multiple services to be enabled / disabled this way. Hope this helps make things easier for everyone. To know the status of zoom when using this method, a bubble will pop up on screen saying enabled / disabled based on status.

Also check out the solution I just found works and posted. It makes things much easier so people don't have to keep going into settings to toggle the setting for now.

I thought so too. The whole zoom feature to zoom in and out is a three finger double tap. Now you can turn it completely on and off with a triple tap of the home button. So it's not such a big workflow change. Also what's good about this, is if you triple tap to turn it off while zoomed in, if you triple press again, it will turn back on and zoom back in where you left off. I've never moved icons while zoomed in, that would be much too frustrating fo me. Anyway I figured at least this way, if Apple is slow to fix the bug, using accessibility shortcut won't feel as much out of place. Have a great even.

Awesome fix - thank you, (I just have to remember to take AN EXTRA STEP EVERY TIME TO DO A SIMPLE THING THAT USED TO WORK FLAWLESSLY ON MY 4-YEAR OLD $1000 iPHONE) — this is a sad bug for Apple to correct, and IMO the new icon arrange method is a UX downgrade

This was driving me absolutely CRAZY as one of my folders dumped about 20 icons out onto my home screen and I could not get them back into a folder. Thank you, Paul!! It took some digging around to try to find a solution but I'm glad I came across your post!

APPLE...are you listening? This is an issue that is going to cause lots of trouble tickets and troubleshooting for you!! Please fix it...ASAP!!

having the exact same issues. This update is very buggy. The swipe to type keyboard doesn’t work either Freezing frequently shen switching apps. Apps close unexpectedly. Slow start Siri is non responsive. and

I wouldn’t consider this problem solved. I want the zoom feature enabled. Now every time I need to rearrange my icons I have to disable zoom, rearrange my icons, and then reenable zoom. I would call that a hack, not a solution.

I would call this a workaround, not a solution. The problem continues in iOS 13.1.1.

I’m legally blind and I use the zoom controller all the time so it’s a pain in the butt to have to turn it off every time I want to move some icons or folders on my devices. I have over 300 apps

I did call Apple the day I upgraded to 13.1 and gave them a list of problems this one being one on a rather longest list of bugs.

It’s annoying that I’ll have to go in EACH TIME and turn it off to rearrange and then GO BACK and turn it back on. I use the zoom feature often. Very inconvenient. Apple needs to fix this.

Hi, I just confirmed that this bug is still present and not fixed in iOS 13.1.2.

Is there a better way of making Apple aware than discussing here? I would guess it can be fixed easily and it might drive people crazy because with the change in behaviour of iOS 13 they might think they are doing something wrong ...

Hoping for fix in next release ... at least we have a workaround.

YAY! Helped me as well. I was the only family member that had this issue after the update. Was driving me crazy and I would have never thought of this. Even spent time chatting with an Apple rep trying to solve the issue. They suggested a complete restore. Glad I found your answer and didn't have to resort to that. Thanks!

Paul thanks for the tip. I was getting soo annoyed that something so simple and basic was frustrating as heck. Hopefully this is corrected in 13.1.2 ios . Again a big Thanx for posting I am sure there are many who will appreciate it. 1000 Points for you.
