When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete

When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app (specifically a "live/Hotmail" account) in iOS 13, it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete. I have to press the delete button again for it to actually delete. Anyone else having issues with this? I deleted and re-added the affected account, but it still does it.

Thanks!

Update, 13.1.1 did resolve the issue. Tested with a few more emails after my post above.

I deleted the mail app.

Then went to settings-passwords & accounts-deleted the accounts.

Rebooted phone and reinstalled the mail app.

Added my email details to the app.

Added my second email by settings-passwords & accounts-add account.

Seems to be ok so far and you will change your sync settings in mail settings (no limit was being switched to a month automatically).

See how you get on.

No. It’s a problem with the mail app on iOS 13. It’s not a problem with Microsoft (activesync works fine on every other mail app I have) or google or anyone else. Apple broke their mail app and they need to fix it.

fwiw I’ve been using outlook for the last week or two, and it’s been fine. It’s much better than it was a year ago - in some ways better than the mail app, in some ways not.

I bought a new iPad Pro. It had an older iOS. I ended up having to upgrade to the new iOS on my new iPad since my Reminders got updated when I bought my new iPhone 11 because once any device has the new IOS that upgrades Reminders you can no longer use Reminders across platforms unless you upgrade each device to the new Operating system. So now I am stuck with an upgrade that has hosed up mail causing me lots of unnecessary time and frustration to manage my inbox. Yes, there are certain extra steps you can go through to eventually make things work, but holy cow, it takes me forever to get through the new mail in my inbox. I do not care for the Outlook app or the MS website to do mail. This reminds of all the reasons I switched from MS to Apple in the first place. Now Apple is really no better than MS any more. Unfortunately after my two recent purchases I am heavily invested in them. I will remain hopeful it will eventually get fixed. They sure have ticked off a lot of their die hard fan base in the past month though. It will give people great pause on whether to continue on the Apple train the next time it is time to upgrade devices, which is why I even have the new iPhone and the new iPad because they made my old generation of iphone and iPad almost unbearable to use. No way to treat a lady Apple. Live and learn. I will be doing more analysis next time I come due for a new device, which hopefully will not be for a few years.

Try going in to your outlook or office 365 account and removing all mobile devices. Do this by opening outlook online from a computer web browser then go to settings >all settings >General > mobile devices. Then remove the account from your iPhone through the passwords and accounts. Finally, add the account back.

This seemed to work for me so far.

That's ridiculous. This isn't an activesync problem. Activesync works just fine with the Outlook App, and 3 or 4 other mail apps I tried. It works fine with all of the android devices used in my office. Activesync didn't stop working for anything other than Apple devices the day that iOS 13 and iPad OS came out.

Apple broke something in their mail app -- it's on them to find the solution and share it with its customers.

When I opened a case with Apple, they did collect debugging data plus a screen recording of the issue. I too was unable to replicate the double delete while on the phone with them, but did demonstrate needing to read twice to mark as read. We also collected screenshots of the mail settings to confirm that was correct. I was assured I would get a call back on Tuesday. They claimed I would receive a timeline for a fix.

Hi Gk5186,

Regarding the Outlook cliënt: of course you go back to the inbox after deleting a message you just read. And isn’t it logical to open and read the the next message before you delete it ? If you want to delete one or (many) more messages in ONE time, just touch one of the messages for a longer time. You get in to a multiple SELECT mode where you can select alle messages you want, and deleted them in one sequence if this is what you want.

I was getting really frustrated from the IOS mail app issues (including all messages from this discussions group) that I started to use this Microsoft app. And I am enthousiast to work with it trouble free.

I definitely recommend using it !

(Sorry for the Apple junkies / fans :))

I was talking to Childs71. If someone replies to the very first post with a "me too" when the thread is resolved for most people then that someone probably never got past page 1

If you still have your problem after 13.2.3 then it is probably a different problem as I think you suspect.

Dont make this personal, my name is peter_watt.
