When I'm trying to delete an email out of the Mail app it looks like it is deleting, but then doesn't delete

I'm having the same problems since I updated to IOS 13.

Sent mails show up double in sent mails folder.

Need to open an email twice to have it marked as read (or to delete it).

I can't believe this still isn't resolved in IOS 13.1.2!

I contacted Apple about this issue and then FaceID stopped working as well. I was told via chat to drive 45 minutes to the nearest Apple store as the brand new iPhone 11 Pro needed replaced. When I got there, they confirmed that the phone needed replaced. They had phones in stock but refused to give me one. They indicated that they would have to mail me a new one. The store supervisor refused to give me his last name, or his supervisor’s name. He said if Apple wanted me to know his name, then they would have printed it on his T-shirt. The next morning, I returned the iPhone to Verizon and got my money back. It is absolutely ridiculous that they would release such a buggy operating system and then fail to fix it on three patches.

I’m having the same problem - it’s getting infuriating now that even in revision 13.1.3 it’s still not working! Apple have definitely lost their finesse - they used to be reliable but now they seem to release software that hasn’t been tested properly and the phones are falling behind the latest tech in the market place. (Release of iPhone 11 without 5G - what’s that all about???). Come on Apple, sort it out! Do it once, do it right!

Issue is now BACK again after a few days bug free!!

i never buy new phones - this 6S plus cost me £150 from eBay - but i feel very bad for the poor suckers who spent £1000+ bucks on one of these lol 😆

To me it looks like a stupid feature and not a bug. iPhone 8+. Does not do it in mail app but does in messages. 3 gestures for one action is lame.

However, If you click the the dots at the top next to the create new text msg icon and choose Manage Message List you can select the ones to delete and just hit delete once. Dumb but it’s a faster alternative.

14:49 U.K. *update call from Apple just received - I advised the agent that the firmware update 13.1.3 has not resolved the mail app bug, he advised engineering still do not no the cause of this and are working to resolve it.

I had not notice this part of the issue till I read your comment. Now that I look at sent emails I see that every email appears to have sent twice. I have upgraded to iOS 13.1.2 and uninstalled/reinstalled mail accounts. No improvement.

im sewing the same thing and hadn’t even realised the Sent emails were being effected by this issue !!

i checked and like the temporary email fix it seems that my sent box wasn’t having the issue between 3-9 Oct - but is sending double emails since 9th

The issue has just disappeared over night. I woke up on Oct 17 and everything was back to normal on iPhone X and 2018 iPad Pro 11"

1. Don't have to hit trash can twice to delete
2. Sent mails not showing as sent twice
3. Everything is working faster - no waiting for an email to download
4. Tested throughout morning on multiple connections and many speeds - quick responses are holding up. No clue what changed but so happy the email is working effectively again.

Same thing happened to me, while I was on a support call to Apple, either Microsoft did something or Apple found out what they did/didn't do and fixed it but wouldn't admit there had ever been a problem. Had similar issue with a Google Home few months ago.

I would not assume that temporary improvement of the solution is related to anything done on Apples end. The intermittent nature of the problem is probably what’s making it so hard to track down. Suspect it has something to do with communication between the phone or iPad and the exchange server, but will defer to the experts on this. That said, probably no need to post additional reports of temporary improvements, as I suspect they will continue to be intermittent and fleeting.

Couldn't agree more. Apple really has to up its game and fix what is probably the most troubled ios mail app in its history. As a corporate user, mail is the working horse app of my iphone and having to delete emails twice, move emails twice to their folders, replies with empty emails (the list goes on...) is REALLY annoying.

I also much preferred the option to have the big orange dot to show flagged emails, which has now gone, and been replaced by a hardly visible flag.

The iOS update 13 has caused all kind of problems including:

Air printing now I cannot print notes or anything from the web

email I now have to delete mail twice; once in the inbox then again in the trash box email by email instead of just emptying the trash

I can no longer empty the junk mailbox. I have to individually delete each spam email in the junk folder and then delete each individual email again in the trash folder.

You can select all in each folder but delete is no longer an option.

I see there is a latest iOS update but I’m scared to death what this will do next so I haven’t allowed that update. Do my issues get resolved with that update?

I have been waiting 3 weeks for a response from engineer. This is my latest email response since I emailed back and said it wasn’t good enough and they have another week before I start contacting press/ceo department.
