iOS 13 audio cuts out

Anyone else experiencing this? I am playing music from the music app and when I try to launch new apps or work in other apps, my phone’s audio output drops a few times before returning to normal. Also, audio sounds much louder in my headphones. At first, I thought this was an improvement but now it is annoying.

Had the same issue, sound cuts in and out I keep having my music go silent but the song keeps playing, even when I press on a song, I had to wait a few seconds for it to start playing.

Just update to IOS 13.6 and the problem has been solved.

Apple should be more careful about updating without observing problems that may cause to several Apple designed apps.

Hello. There are quite a few step by step descriptions and videos posted on different web sites. You can simply Google "How to factory restore an Apple I- Phone 11 ( or 5 or 6 etc)" I am no technician so you should cross reference what follows with other sites. Here are the steps I followed -

  1. On your iPhone go to Settings/General/Software Update to confirm you are running the latest version of iOS
  2. Open I- Tunes, go to Help/Check for Updates to make sure you have the latest version
  3. Stay on iTunes and connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. After a few seconds iTunes should 'beep' and your iPhone will appear as a device icon listed on the left side of the home page. iTunes will automatically start to back up the iPhone data. You can follow progress of this step at the top, center, of the iTunes screen.
  4. Once your backup is complete disconnect your iPhone from the computer
  5. On your iPhone go to "Settings/your name/Find My...." and switch off "Find My iPhone" With older software you might need to use "Settings/your name/icloud/Find my …" search sequence
  6. Connect your iPhone to the computer
  7. iTunes will recognize and run a data back up as in step 3 above
  8. Once the back up is complete, right click on the iPhone device icon in iTunes and select "Restore from backup" in the drop down menu.
  9. Select "Restore iPhone" under the Software section of the next pop up screen
  10. Confirm your choice to "Restore" when prompted on the next screen
  11. That's it!! My phone took about 20 minutes to fully restore. I cannot remember if I was prompted to make any set up selections during the restore process. All of my files were saved and restored as before and the audio drop out issue completely resolved.

So when I updated my Iphone 7+ to the new IOS 13.3, the songs on Apple Music would skip and the Apple Music app was lagging. I actually found out how I could fix it and I wanted to share in case others were having the same problems.

I had to unfortunately turn off Siri.

When I did that, the song skipping stopped and the Apple Music app started up perfectly.

Sorry Siri, apparently with this new update, I can't use your services AND be able to listen to music.

Hopefully Apple with fix this soon!

Same problem 2 different iphones.

Same problem in my car with Bluetooth.

Same problem with different Bluetooth headphones.

Same problem using the phones speaker - no bluetooth anything...

Same problem with ibook app and auable app.

Restarting does nothing!

Hundreds of restarts... power offs and restarts

The one and only thing that works for any real length of time is;

  1. start playing audio
  2. press the iphone power button to place in screen saver/power saver mode
  3. press the power button again to bring up the 'mini' audio screen (with time / date and day)
  4. keep it live (don't let it close) once it crashes - the mini screen will change to 'audio' as opposed to the audio title (song/book). press <play> repeatedly until it restarts. It will now play for some time - normally at least a 30 min.

I'm experiencing these issues on my own personal phone (iPhone 7) and my work phone (iPhone 8). It's happening with both the native Music & Podcast apps and the Spotify app for me. I'm not prepared to factory reset because after experiencing the exact same issues on two separate phones I'm convinced it's the update. Factory reset is a huge amount of effort for something that seems unlikely to fix the issue. I was just trying to play a song on Spotify and without even touching my phone watched it jump to 11 seconds, then 22 seconds - I took the song back to the start and watched it do the same thing again - 10 seconds, then jumped to 20 seconds. Other times I'll be halfway through listening to a song and it'll jump to the next song on the list. Other times even with all music apps closed my phone will just start randomly playing music. It's as if it's possessed at times! On both phones I've also had Siri take over - again usually while trying to play music she pops up asking if she can help when I haven't even touched my phone - I've even turned her off in settings but she still pops up. When the Siri take over happens I have no choice but to restart my iPhone because she just won't go away once she starts and that does seem to help, for a while anyway. This is an issue with the update that Apple needs to fix and preferably sooner rather than later, have been putting up with it for a while now thinking any day they'll release a fix but this discussion thread goes back months!

In my case the audio fades out suddenly after random while. Not cut out instantly, but quickly but noticeably fade out to zero volume. Then I need to manually resume playing. On Mixcloud or on Spotify - no matter. Also, for some reason the audio will not resume in the same place but from "some time before". It happens when I put the audio playing app to the background, do something else on the phone and for example, stop looking directly at the screen.

Maybe i'm wrong BUT I think it is connected with the option Settings -> FaceID and code -> Attention Aware Features. Turn it off.

I have noticed the audio drop-outs since the 13.6 update. Fairly regular intervals - Plays for about 10 seconds the drops for a second or two. Worst on live streams such as I-heart. Also notice it to a lesser degree in Apple music. Volume controls are also noticeably lagging.

I hope there is another release soon to deal with this.

I have the iPhone X and have tried the hard restart with no effect.

Yikes! After reading through 4 pages of comments, stemming back from Oct. 2019, It’s seems there is still an issue with audio dropping/randomly cutting out.

I’ve been streaming The Morning Show on a new iPad 7th gen and the audio consistently cuts out. Pausing and then selecting the 15 second back button (once or twice), or exiting out of the app and restarting seems like the only way to generate the audio, however it’s only temporary.

I have even deleted and reloaded the Apple TV App, after having issues with playback issues. If anyone knows of a fix or tips on resolving audio randomly cutting out please share.

Note:

• Experiencing only w/Apple TV+

•Using an Apple Digital A/V lightning

adapter to cast on TV. (purchased 1 wk. ago from Best Buy).
