iphone 11 can't sync with itunes

I am unable to sync my new iPhone 11 via iTunes, i had to restore from a cloud save from couple days ago as opposed to last nights MacBook backup. Ive tried two different MacBook pros both recognize the phone and prompt it to trust computer. i trust but after that nothing happens from the usb device tree i can see that the phone is connected. I also plugged in my friends iPhone thats running iOS 13 and same thing mac prompts to trust on the device but won't sync after allowing it. i decided to connect my old iPhone 7 from which i made the backup from thats running iOS 12 it connected just fine, i was then able to connect another iPhone running 12.4 . Both of my Macs are running high sierra and the most current iTunes

for some odd reason iTunes needs to download a update to work with iPhone 11 but iTunes won't trigger the download and when you launch the mac app store it tells you everything is up to date. The way i was able to get iTunes to trigger the download was to re-download iTunes not a updated version since i already had 12.8.2.3 installed which is the most current version for my system. after downloading it and installing it, i launched iTunes, plugged in iPhone 11 and as soon as i did that iTunes prompted me to download a small update to work with this iPhone.

I've got macOS 10.14 and iTunes 12.9.5.5 I can't find a way to download an older version running on macOS 10.14, nor a redownload of iTunes as it is packaged with Mojave.

No comment in this thread has been helpful unfortunately. Any other ideas ?

The fix for me was to use my old lightning cable instead of the supplied USB-C one.

manage to do it after installing new iTunes via downloading and not upgrade with app store !

I had this issue. The problem was that there was another window open behind the itunes app showing that it needed to update.

Clicked the update and problem is solved

I reinstalled iTunes on iMac and performed pop up update install. iTunes ACCOUNT now shows device, but device icon doesn’t appear to select for further action.
