Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Oddly I have a similar issue only I have the new iPhone 11 Pro Max. My problem is through Bluetooth. I cannot skip tracks backwards or forward In my car. The song info doesn’t show up on the car player screen either. Have to skip tracks manually on my phone. I just let the playlist play through. I got the new phone 11 after my iPhone 7 already had the album artwork issue. I was royally ******. I’ve only put ONE playlist back on my new phone. I’m reading these discussions closely and waiting for a majority of positive feedback before putting all my lists back on. So far only one person has not had an issue after updating to ios 13.1 with the playlist artwork. I believe this person deleted all their playlists after the 13.1 update then resynched. Do we really think Apple is working on this? I doubt it. It’s probably related to another issue they are working on. They couldn’t make the iPhone 11 and ios 13 more Windows unfriendly. I refuse to get Apple music after spending thousands of dollars on iTunes songs over the years. I’m in my 60’s. I’ve had iTunes and iPhones since they came out. My pc is a nice Alienware too. Not a cheap machine. I have a boatload of playlists to synch back on. I haven’t counted them. I have the 512 GB iPhone. I just about filled up my 256 GB so I got the 11. The battery was horrible and it was the second one. I got in on the $29 battery deal or whatever the price was. Anyway I hope this BS gets resolved soon. It’s too annoying if you have 50 plus playlists.

Anyone else with this new music issue?

OMG...I'm still having major issues with playlist art work. The Apple Genius or should I say idiot, destroyed a major part of my business when he wiped out my music. Music I can't get back.

Now I have a new music issue. I took music from my iTunes, loaded those playlists to the phone. I have a playlist that will only let me hit the play button for the entire list. If I hit a specific song an ad pops up for subscribing to Apple music. I hit not now but the song won't play. I tried resyncing the phone, still won't play..just gives me an ad for Apple Music. I should be able to play any song on the playlist in any order. Plays fine in iTunes on the MacBook. Plays fine on the phone if I just hit play on the entire play list. This is BS....I can't believe this isn't being addressed. On top of that what's with this new issue....I wouldn't subscribe to Apple Music now even if someone else paid for it. I don't want to see your ad

Apple wants people to believe they are the best...prove it....fix this BS

Dude cool it. An os as complex as IOS on a mobile device is bound to have bugs. It’s not their fault you didn’t have your music backed up before you went in. Just because they have this one issue right now doesn’t make it the worst OS out there. At least they fix their bugs unlike Android platforms.

Interesting turn of events,... So, I decided to take a risk and update from Mojave to Catalina on my Mac Mini in my room that I sync my music to my iOS devices.... I opened Apple Music (which is replacing iTunes) and all my album art is gone, HOWEVER, there is a status that states "Accessing Artwork". I went into the preferences and look at this screen shot.... I am assuming that if you uncheck this, you can then manage your own album art.... So, here is the bad news, you can't sync your iOS device with Apple Music.... at least, not directly. For the low low price of $25/year, you can store your music on iCloud and stream your music onto your devices. Which probably works fantastically when you are on the subway!!! It sounds like Apple really wants you to buy Apple Music, instead of holding your own music. If you are on a PC, in order to access this, you need to download the latest version of iTunes... I would assume that on the PC front, they will eventually kill off iTunes and make Apple Music for PC...... so, this is very saddening news. It sounds like the best solution is to go android with a half decent music player app unless you want to subscribe to Apple Music....

I really hope Apple does not abandon the iTunes method of managing your own music, that would be a deal breaker for me...I’m not fond of iCloud, always messes up my setup, I actually much prefer to manually manage my files...I also don’t want to have to stream everything always. Anyway thanks for the heads up, I will definitely not be installing Catalina unless it’s confirmed there’s a way to manage my files myself like the current iTunes setup

I took the chance and updated my iphoneX Max to 13.1.2 and also Itunes to the newest version in Windows 10 which is 12.10.1.4 and once again the problem still persists!!! >:( I asked a school buddy that got the iPhone 11 and I asked him and he didn't know because he doesn't have music in his cell so deadend : / Do not update your phone guys!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!! *****You can Ignore the post I made about the iTunes syncing with iCloud and having to stream your music, as I have found an old school way to sync your devices****

OK, so here is what is going on. The new music app relies on pulling the album art automatically.... However, you can turn this off in the settings of the new music. app. So, if you update to Catalina, you will get the new music app. When you open it, at the bottom left, you will see the album art syncing.... WAIT until that is done, or you millrun into the same problem, connect your iOS device and trust the computer. On a Mac, your iOS device will show up on the sidebar in any Finder window, elect it and then press sync on the bottom right....

From the music app, it will show up on the left side bar and you can right click and press sync....

Now, from a PC... (I am speculating/assuming here based on what I have read, what I found out on the Mac side, and my IT knowledge). you have to download the latest version of iTunes, and then open it and let the album art sync and AFTER THAT IS DONE... then sync your iOS device as normal.

Now for both PC and Mac, even if you want to manually manage your album art, I would let it download the album art, what I have found is that if it can't find album art for unknown music, it will randomly pick one. However, after it does that, you can drag the correct album art and it will overwrite the wrong art. Once you are done, you can sync your iOS device and all the album art will be corrected

My problem began with Mojave and iOS 13. I have my iTunes Library on an external SSD.

After updating to Catalina the issue remained.

During the update it was mandatory to format the system drive to APFS. I did the same for the external SSD and replaced the music from a redundant drive. Issue remained.

Here's what fixed it:

1. Started from scratch a new Library
2. Reimported the music from the now APFS external to the new Library
3. Deleted all music from the phone and backed up what was left (settings, etc.) to my Mac
4. Restored the phone to factory settings and setting it up as a new phone
5. Restored the phone from the backup
6. Re-sync music

If you have a lot of playlists, export them as XML before starting a new Library. I didn't do this and spent 3 days rebuilding my playlists.

This happened to me also and I have attempted the following...

NONE OF THESE OPTIONS WILL WORK

1 - un-check all currupted files with bad cover art and re-synced the IPhone music

2 - wiped the Iphone clean of all music and then re-installing them by re-syncing the music

3 - Tried to re-link the artwork from the music folder linked to the playlist

4 - Tried to updated to Itunes on my computer

5 - de-selected the the currupted files, and then turn off the IPhone (then re-sync them from a fresh restart)

6 - restart my computer and tried sync from a fresh reboot.

I guessing that Apple is fully aware of the situation and setting up an update to solve this problem.

Its really annoying because I really liked the quick playlist steps that I often used and took for granted.

Now the task is so annoying, for such an advanced product.

Apple if you're out there... HELP

In my case, the album art for individual songs is correct. The album art for, individual and collage, playlists is incorrect. On my iPhone 8 the album art for playlists are displaying the first thirteen playlists, then the same thirteen playlist appear for playlists 14-27 and so on... This is after installing iOS 13.1.3. just about an hour ago. This issue first surfaced after installing iOS 13.1.2.

Hopefully, Apple is working on this.

I have the same issue. The album art in the playlist view is random depending how you sort. It is correct when you open a playlist. Syncing to iTunes On a PC doesn’t fix the problem. BTW - it has been the same on every version of iOS 13. And I have an iPhone XR. very disappointed with apple’s software quality. Also, the desktop website on hangs up Safari.

Fix it Apple!!!

Im in the same boat go back to Edge phone and dial wheel ipod. and original EMac . Have 1000's of songs from cd's and iTune purchases and spent hours making my own playlists. Can't believe Apple hasn't even addressed the problem. Afraid if I sync phone to computer it will screw up that library - don't want to mess with that. You have any issues with that?

I am also experiencing incorrect art work on my iPod Touch (7G) running 13.1.3. The artwork is correct for albums and songs, but for playlists, the first few appear correctly, then begin to show other cover art from the various music on the device.

These change at random each time I access the Playlist function. Apple please fix in the next iOS update.

I installed the Cs Music app and have not seen any of the artwork issues afterwards. As I understand it, this app sits on top of the iTunes library on the phone as a different interface for the Music app (in fact, it requires the Music app to remain installed on the phone to work).

Based on that, I strongly feel that the artwork issue is entirely in the Music app since iTunes and my library are otherwise working as I'd expect with no changes. And, since Apple is migrating away from iTunes, only maintaining it for WIndows PCs (as I have), I'm not expecting this to rise to the level of an important fix for them.

Two other aspects that I prefer on Cs Music as well:

1. The app knows my playlists - I don't have to go through the odd step of selecting 'downloaded music' to get there, and
2. The app offers a playlist search feature that works like the contacts search function. Helpful when you have over 100 playlists (which comes from iTunes not having any way to determine if the library has a full album, partial, or only a song...)

I don't stream music, nor feel the need to share what I am listening to on social media. I just want to manage my music on my computer and load it to my phone so I can readily listen to what I want to. So, Cs Music totally filled my needs. If your needs are similar, I highly recommend it.

Ultimately, I'd love it if Apple fixed the Music app to work correctly with artwork again; but, its been months so far (I read it was reported over the summer in beta)... so, I felt the couple of dollars for an app would be a reasonable way to get past the wait.

And in one day, I am already appreciating the simpler user experience on my new app.
