Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

I upgraded to 13 and experienced the same. So typically frustrating. My playlist artwork is all corrupted. I can no longer select my playlist at a glance. I think I will have to delete all music on my phone and resync. PIA as I have over 8,000 songs on my phone.

Oddly I have a similar issue only I have the new iPhone 11 Pro Max. My problem is through Bluetooth. I cannot skip tracks backwards or forward In my car. The song info doesn’t show up on the car player screen either. Have to skip tracks manually on my phone. I just let the playlist play through. I got the new phone 11 after my iPhone 7 already had the album artwork issue. I was royally ******. I’ve only put ONE playlist back on my new phone. I’m reading these discussions closely and waiting for a majority of positive feedback before putting all my lists back on. So far only one person has not had an issue after updating to ios 13.1 with the playlist artwork. I believe this person deleted all their playlists after the 13.1 update then resynched. Do we really think Apple is working on this? I doubt it. It’s probably related to another issue they are working on. They couldn’t make the iPhone 11 and ios 13 more Windows unfriendly. I refuse to get Apple music after spending thousands of dollars on iTunes songs over the years. I’m in my 60’s. I’ve had iTunes and iPhones since they came out. My pc is a nice Alienware too. Not a cheap machine. I have a boatload of playlists to synch back on. I haven’t counted them. I have the 512 GB iPhone. I just about filled up my 256 GB so I got the 11. The battery was horrible and it was the second one. I got in on the $29 battery deal or whatever the price was. Anyway I hope this BS gets resolved soon. It’s too annoying if you have 50 plus playlists.

Ok, you’re talking about that folder being in the Backup Synch folder along with a separate music synch folder? I know the last backup is always on your computer. I’ve seen the folder of Backup synchs. As far as deleting media I’ll wait. It’s corrupt on the phone update not the computer files. I have a new phone with only one playlist now. Apple support acted like I was the only one complaining about this when I brought it to their attention. They also said “oh, you don’t use the Cloud OR have Apple Music”. I’ll repopulate a few more playlists and see what happens before deleting anything yet. If Apple doesn’t address this issue then I’ll go through the alternatives.

Apple needs to fix this bug. I have around 90k songs in my library (a mix of iTunes purchases and music transferred from CD's) with playlist i've been curating for about 15 years or so. I simply cant erase and start over. I currently have around 21k on my iPhone XS, so even that would be an impractical chore to re-do. I hope there is a fix very soon.

Exactly. My new phone is currently holding just one playlist now. I have all my playlists from my iPhone 7 ready to synch though. We probably have around the same amount of music we put on our phones. I’ll wait till this is straightened out or add a few at a time and sees what happens. It’s an Apple issue. They know it’s happening and pretending it’s not so far. The biggest problem they are encountering with the new 11’s is the backup and new ios 13 not taking from Windows computers. Many new phones came with ios 12.4 on them. After Backup the “Swipe To Upgrade” prompt comes up. This step hangs and doesn’t complete on many phones. Similar to what happened when the X series was released.

I just realized that the issue I’m having might have been around for a while. I agree about the Apple Music too because I have so many songs I have collected over the years and if I want something different I listen to Sirius radio. It’s funny that my Playlist Icons, (which we have no way to change or apply) now change as I scroll the screen or repeat in sequence. This is saddening as a long time Apple user. (I know I might be in the wrong group since I don’t do Windows)

You’re in the right group. I’ve read on the other threads Mac and iPad users with iTunes music in their playlists are experiencing the same issue. That’s why I thought at first they might get this bug fixed faster. Obviously they are stuck or don’t care enough to make it a priority yet. I can’t wait to read several posts saying the bug has been fixed.

I have about 17,000 tracks and own them. I either buy high res tracks or rip CD’s. Took me ages to organize my music. I once tried iMusic because it sounded interesting. It replaced all of my high bit rate tracks with low res MP3’s. Took me ages to undo the damage to my music. Never again. Now Apple continues to trash integrity of our owned music by releasing less than perfected

software. It’s easier to use Spotify along with my music library than to risk more damage. Also, IOS 13 and 13.1 are riddled with performance issues. I would happily go back to 12 if I could. Do not update unless you are a masochist looking for pain, frustration and aggravation.

Decided to bite the bullet and decided to delete all the music from my iPhone XS Max.

Oddly enough, even though I used iTunes to also delete the playlists off my phone, my phone still had empty playlists in the Music app ... I manually deleted them.

As I had backed up my playlists, I then re-synced the playlists with iTunes on Windows 10.

STILL MESSED UP !

If Apple doesn't address this, I guess I'll have to get used to going by playlist name instead of by album art.

I've actually tried contact Support several times thru chats ... they all act like they've never heard of this before ...

I talked to support on the phone about this issue since my phone is a new 11 and they said I was the FIRST person to mention this issue! Everyone my age I know with an iPhone uses iTunes like me and our own music. We ALL have the same issue. One friend got the 11 also and called support. “Never heard of that before “ is what he got. They are training a lot of new techs right now. I’ve called three times, have a support ticket # with no solution. I get many excuses about my pc, internet speed and RAM. No usable answers. I feel scammed by them for not buying into Apple music like they want us too.
