Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

I upgraded to 13 and experienced the same. So typically frustrating. My playlist artwork is all corrupted. I can no longer select my playlist at a glance. I think I will have to delete all music on my phone and resync. PIA as I have over 8,000 songs on my phone.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I've searched forums on the internet with no resolution. I'm experiencing the very same issue with the "Recently Added" section on the phone. I pretty much did everything you did, from restore to moving all songs from my phone and then re-syncing to no avail. It's certainly frustrating

I didn't know you can assign art to the Playlist. I prefer to just have the Playlist automatically show the prevalent album art in the songs listed in the playlist. If there are multiple albums (e.g. several albums from the same artist in a discography collection), it used to show up to 4 different album covers.

Maybe the iOS after 13.1 will fix it ?

Same problem here. There seem to be a number of these threads now. I've done everything I could think of with my iPhone 8 and Windows 10 iTunes and it still keeps randomly selecting wrong album art from those available. I've discussed the matter with Apple Support on Twitter but with living in the UK, plus the many other issues they are dealing with, it was taking forever and few actually suggestions. They're now wanting to phone me but I'm waiting until I've seen what happens after the 13.1 update.

I have 13.1 public beta, and the problem still existed. However, Apple will surely fix it soon. For my playlists of same artist, I used a picture of the artist, and for same genre playlists, I used fun, stylized images that reads “Jazz” or “80’s” or whatever. I know its not a great solution, but I found it interesting, and thought someone else might find it useful.

Hi @DeadGlory

Thanks for letting us know.

I tried deleting/restoring just one playlist, but it didn't work.

Maybe the trick is to delete EVERYTHING off the phone?

I've backed up most of my Playlists into .txt files, so hopefully I don't need to create new ones.

but I'm still going to wait for iOS 13.2+ before taking such drastic measures ... I'm sure others with a HUGE number of playlists will not be impressed with this workaround.

I just updated my iPhone 8 to 13.1. I have used iTunes on my Mac's for a very long time and have tons of music. I have created 60 or so playlists over the years. After the update the Playlist Icon doesn't match what the Playlist is. I nearly seems the icons are repeating in sequence. Luckily inside the tracks are what the name says. This is disheartening to say the least. Hey Apple, spend some time on this!

This happened to me too for my 7 plus and I cannot correct it. Also, not sure if related, but after the update my car radio can no longer track skip over a usb connection in playlists. It works in the main music library, so it may be related to this other weird album art cover. As it stands now I’d have better control over an AUX cable, if only I had the port...
