Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

I upgraded to 13 and experienced the same. So typically frustrating. My playlist artwork is all corrupted. I can no longer select my playlist at a glance. I think I will have to delete all music on my phone and resync. PIA as I have over 8,000 songs on my phone.

Getting of a plane today, I said to a friend, “Do not under any circumstances upgrade to 13”. Guy behind us said “Amen”. All of the positive new functions have been completely lost on me as I fail to recognize them in light of the problems that I am encountering. Bad outweighs the good. Thanks Tim Cook for your wonderful rollout speech. Totally lost me when I upgraded. You have done more harm than good.

It is doing the same for my Iphone XMax too, it is frustrating because I have the correct art of each single album and now that I have some new songs of artists I like I don't want to sync because of this problem.

I don't know if this would help guys but what I do is go to the playlist, duplicate it by putting any name then erase the wrongfully displayed playlist and then rename it with the actual artist and it is fixed. I must say that it's kinda a pain in the butt, mostly when you have 50 to 60 playlists like I do :/ I hope this helps guys and the next update fix this problem.

I just thought I'd mention I too am experiencing the issue exactly as most of you describe it...and my home computer is a mac.

All the album art for my playlists are mixed up on my phone, and I've tried deleting everything off, resynching, basically all the tricks I could think of or google.

Very frustrating...and the wrong artwork is surprisingly distracting!

If there were an option to list all the playlists without the artwork, that would even be an acceptable workaround for me.

I have suggested to Apple that they delete the artwork on the Playlist altogether and just have list of names. Seems easy enough, but they don’t respond to a single user. Others that say to create a new Playlist and delete the old one, that doesn’t work either. As I scroll down the Playlist and back, the artwork changes. BTW, as a user we have no choice of Playlist artwork. Software chooses it.

I like having artwork. It’s part of the album and it helps to see what is in the playlist. It selects the artwork based on the songs in the playlist, as I would prefer to have it work. That way, it is easier to see what is in the playlist quickly at-a-glance. I do believe that Apple has not responded to a single inquiry, comment, complaint or compliment.

I have turned off auto update on all of my devices. Can’t risk it. It’s a shame we can’t enjoy all of the new enhancements Mr. Cook and his team so proudly announced. They failed to mention all of the bugs. They must have known about them. If you sense a little sarcasm, anger, frustration and disappointment in my posts, you are wrong, It’s not a little, it’s a lot.

@justbeth

This is the first time I've heard of the artwork being messed up with the individual songs themselves ... for me it was just the Playlist "folder" art that was buggered.

I was actually at an Apple Store today and an Employee said he noticed the main problem too.

And he's not a fan of Apple Music as he has both an Apple and an android phone, and he wants to have his music on both devices.

Just found a solution.

I start a three month trial time for Apple Music.

Even I switch off the function to replace titles already on the phone, Apple Music seems to check the songs and covers and start to replace my playlist cover with the original cover.

Covers from Playlists without Music available by Apple aren't touch.

Now Apple has 3 months to fix issue before I cancel the subscription. 😉

I have apple computers since nearly 40 years.

I always updated or upgraded immediately my software and often hardware when new OSs were out.

Now it is over.

If apple do not care to fix their bugs (I do not even say TEST the upgrades really good before letting a new system out, what once was quite normal) in a good time, especially comunicate as a good professional with us, then I will slow down.

Very much slow down.

Catalina I will NOT install at all , because I really do not need to pass my time working problems out, mostly on the line with the so called "support", where people without deep knowledge work.

I need a functioning system and not a NEW un-functioning. This call of sirenes will pass by me.

I bet that our problem here will be gone if we upgrade to catalina. So apple is forcing us to go to a certain path. They do it in several spheres, for example with iCloud.

I resist where I can.

Now I will wait that this bug with the covers wil be fixed.

Before I will do absolutely nothing.

Except giving apple where I can very bad notes.
