Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

My playlist art, once I moved to iOS13.1 and later to 13.2 were scrambled and incorrect. I finally solved this by adding the artwork that I wanted for the playlist in iTunes and then re-syncing the phone.

Step-by-step

1) In iTunes, choose Music to see all your playlists on the left side.

2) Select the playlist that has the wrong cover on your phone so that the playlist and songs appear in the right pane.

3) Double-click the album art on the top of that list (yes it works) and a popup window will allow you to select an image. Just select an image that you want. I used a 500x500 pixel jpg or png image that I copied from one of the songs in the playlist.

4) Do this for all the playlists that you have.

5) Sync your phone

This worked for me - after trying unsuccessfully to solve by

1) changing all the artwork on each song,

2) deleting all music and re-synching,

3) deleting the Album Art cache and rebuilding.

Unfortunately, a great deal of my artwork is still incorrect on my iPhone 11 Pro running 13.3.1. Finally had time to delete my library and reimport today, but alas, no change. Still all kinds of weirdness going on, including a Rob Zombie cover to a Depeche Mode album I purchased from iTunes back in December. This is just unreal. I don't understand how Apple can constantly mess up these things that should be relatively easy to manage. And then their "fixes" only fix things for some and not all? The developers and engineers working on this software should really be ashamed of themselves.

I’ve updated my iPhone 11 Pro Max to iOS 13.4, My iPad 12.9” 3rd Gen. to iPad OS 13.4, and my MacBook Pro to Catalina OS 10.15.4. I’m still having all the same missing and mixed up album art issues since the first IOS 13 and Catalina update. I’m so pi**ed off at Apple I don’t know what to do. Apple if you’re reading this forum, Get Off You’re A** and Get This Thing Fixed! Stop creating new emojis and FIX THIS S**T!!!!!!! Below is a copy of the original post describing my issues.

Unfortunately the update only fixed the album artwork for some, My iPad Pro 3rd Gen running iPad OS 13.3.1 and MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.15.3 Catalina is still not showing around a third of the album artwork, and some of the album artwork on my iPhone 11 Pro Max running IOS 13.3.1 is missing and a lot of it is mixed up in the library and playlists. I’m beyond frustrated with Apple, because this should have been fixed months ago. I hope they read these forums and see that we need these issues FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I count on my iPhone for my portable music. The makers of the greatest mp3 player ever can’t get music correct on their phone. I don’t do Apple Music. Is this for playlists like mine, made up of iTunes purchases and my own cd’s only or Apple Music too? It’s driving me nuts. Going to have to start over. Getting the iPhone 11 soon anyway. Maybe I’ll wait and fix the problem then. I’m sure Apple doesn’t care about our playlists containing our own music even if half of it was purchased on iTunes.

I really hope this resolves itself in a future update because like Robert said I can no longer pick my playlists at a glance anymore. I have to read each title individually and my library is huge 11,000 plus songs on my phone. My library is comprised of music from cds and music I purchased from iTunes over the years. The last thing I haven’t tried, is to reset my phone altogether. However, I’m fearful of going that far and it not fixing anything.

It’s bad. No luck here. I might try the old drag and drop when I get the new phone if it’s not resolved by then. Will take a long time but if this is still an issue I’ll start over with that. What a ridiculous bug. They make it harder for Windows users every year. They want everyone to get Apple Music. Not happening. My music collection including purchased iTunes albums/songs is huge.

Let’s just hope that you are correct. Very disappointing and time consuming. They destroy the efforts of tons of irreplaceable time spent. They are supposed to enhance our life’s, not challenge us more. It’s times like times like these that I consider moving to the other platform. If I have to redo, may as well start over somewhere else. Tired and frustrated.

Yeah, here’s to hoping it’s worked out during the next IOS update. It’s definitely a really annoying bug and there seems to be no easy way to correct it from our end. So for now, I guess we wait and see. I’m not a huge user of my Apple Music subscription and only have it to listen to artists from back in the day or artists that I’m not huge fans of. I lean on my own library very heavily.

I didn't know you can assign art to the Playlist. I prefer to just have the Playlist automatically show the prevalent album art in the songs listed in the playlist. If there are multiple albums (e.g. several albums from the same artist in a discography collection), it used to show up to 4 different album covers.

Maybe the iOS after 13.1 will fix it ?
