Calendar complication not working with watchOS 6 update

After updating my iPhone XS to iOS 13 and my apple watch 4 to watchOS 6, the calendar complication on my watch faces does not show any upcoming events. When I tap the complication, it launches the calendar app on my watch and I can see all of my upcoming events for the day just fine. This used to work before the update, but not now.

If have tried restarting both devices and it still doesn’t work. I have tried unpairing and re-pairing my watch and it still doesn’t work. I have messed with all the settings in the calendar app and I have tried changing the complication to something else and the changing it back, still doesn’t work.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Anyone solved this issue?

Thanks!

Like others, I grow weary of this being one of the main issues I battle constantly on the apple watch. Since day one the watch has displayed 2-3 of the same invite on my calendar. The seems to have stopped recently and then this latest update cause the complication to stop working. But hey, we got a calculator out of the update (which should have been on this thing all along). OK rant over.

I did this to fix mine:

  1. On the iPhone go to setting > Passwords and Accounts > then for each account with a calendar, I turned them off. I originally only did this with my work calendar as my Google calendar does not have much on it. I fought with if for a while until I turned off all calendars.
  2. Next I turned the watch off and back on again.
  3. Then under the watch app > General > Reset > I performed "Reset Sync Data" while the calendars were still off. My thinking here was that it might sync a blank slate to the watch.
  4. Next I went back to Passwords and Accounts and enabled the calendars again.
  5. Now wait for everything to sync.

At this point the complication was showing correctly and the calendars were correct. I added a test event about 30 minutes out in the future and the complication updated. Hope this helps someone else and I hope it stays fixed (my guess based on experience is that it will break again at some point)

I miss my Pebble watch. Worked perfectly all the time and did every thing I needed.

This workaround does not work. Tested on iOS 13.1 and watchOS 6 on Apple Watch 4.

I have work MDM by VMware AirWatch (Intelligent Hub) - messing around with the exchange account calendar sync does not do anything.

Funny thing is that if you click on Reset Sync Data in the Watch app on the phone - My watch tab - nothing is being resetted.

Apple botched it and failed to test in MDM environments.

This worked for me. I upgraded to iOS 13.1 and then did what you mentioned - settings > passwords & accounts > exchange account > toggled calendar off and deleted the events from my iPhone. After a little while, I then toggled the calendar back on and a few minutes after that had them all appear in my calendar app, at which point my watch complication started showing the next meeting as it should.

To test it, I moved an upcoming meeting around and saw the changes reflected on the watch complication within 5 to 10 seconds. I also added a meeting tomorrow and after clicking on the complication to open calendar, saw the new meeting. I'll report back if it goes back to "no more events," but so far so good.

For what it's worth, I have an iPhone X running 13.1 and Apple Watch Series 4 running 6.0.

iPhone 11 Pro and Apple Watch 4 with cellular, Had same issue. At least temporarily, toggling all calendars off in iPhone settings and waiting until the calendar on the Apple Watch shows no more appointments, then toggling calendars back on got my personal and work calendars showing again in the complication. Note my company uses Microsoft Intune MDM. I will reply to this reply if they go away again.

Same problem for me (I'm using MobileIron too). AW series 5 with iPhone iOS13. Got different calendars (Gmail, iCloud, etc..) none of my events show up on the complications. EXCEPT FOR ONE: the iPhone-only Calendar which shows up on top of the list of Calendars on the iPhone Calendar app. If the event belongs to that iPhone-only (internal) calendar and if it's not an ALL-DAY event, it shows up on the complication. Otherwise, "no events". I hope Apple fixes this.

I had the exact same symptoms as you, and also have mobile iron for work - most fixes didn't work (resyncing data or removing and adding the watch to my iphone) but one of the other suggestions actually worked for me, surprisingly. Going to Settings -> Passwords and Accounts -> selecting my work account and then turning off and on the "calendar" switch for syncing worked for me. It was on, so I turned it off, then I waited for my watch to no longer show any of those events (only took a few seconds), then I waited a minute or so, and then turned the calendar synch switch back on. I checked my watch immediately and it showed no events, then I didn't look at my watch for about 30 minutes, and when I checked it after that time, it was no longer saying "no events" on the main apple watch face. Hope that works for you. I had mobile iron installed throughout this process, I never messed with that.

Personally this fix worked for 24h (delete calendars and add again) give or take and then the next day it went blank again... only events from my subscribed web calendar shows events so now all I have is hockey games lol! I'm with Microsoft InTune for my customer access I will await a fix hopefully in the next release of watch os (6.1) and if its not I'll delete the mdm profile from my phone... FYI, the "calendar" complication is the one where up next is not working oddly the date one up-next works fine but does not show next meeting on watch face....
