My new iPhone 11 keeps disconnecting bluetooth devices

My new iPhone 11 keeps disconnecting bluetooth devices (happens both with Bose QC headset and Skoda car Bluetooth)

I did not see this behaviour on an iPhone X running IOS 13 beta.

Anyone having the same problem? Or even better: a solution?

(This question is about iPhone 11, but Apple apparently didn't take the time to update the "What device is this about"... )

SOLUTION

OK! I got Oscar at Apple. He is a big brain and has helped me FIX this!!

Here's the drill.

Connect iPhone 11 Pro to Macbook.

Backup to computer NOT to iCloud.

When backup is complete, restore software on the iPhone AS NEW. At this point do NOT restore data.

Once the phone has new software installed, BEFORE restoring data, on the car, forget the old Bluetooth connection and pair a new connection. Test calls. Mine works now where it was dropping 100% of incoming calls. Outgoing calls work as well.

Then go back to iTunes and restore data from the backup you just did a bit ago.

ENJOY!!!

Cudos to Oscar, Apple customer service wizard! (Previous TWO Apple reps told me there wasn't a problem with the phone, it was my car).

Same here with a plantronics headset explorer 55!

Worked great on iPhone X w/ 13.3.1 and keeps disconnecting on iPhone 11

what‘s weird is this:

the headset tells you initially after turning it on: „Power On, Talk Time xxx hours, phone 1 is connected“ - then, out of the blue, it says the same thing after sometimes 1 minute, sometimes 4 minutes, except it then says: „..... no phone is connected“ since the iPhone dropped the bt-Connection.

But here‘s the fix that works for me ;-) :

if you now go into the bt-settings on your iPhone and actively click on this bt-device, it again says: „... phone 1 connected“ and then keeps the br-connection like it is supposed to😜

so for me it seems like there is an issue w/ the automatic re-syncing of an already paired device...

it’s really messed up though - and trust me on this: Steve Jobs is turning like a maniac in his grave since something like this would have never happened under his reign...

they should put some magnets on the dude and install some coils around his coffin!! This would be the cleanest generator on the planet 😎

please share if the manual activation fixes the issue for you - so this might point the developers in the right direction

Hi everyone, 13.1.2 clearly did not fix the issue. I know this is an official forum, and that's great, but let's hammer the bug report system as well. It's easy to log in and fill out a bug report. Use the iOS / iPadOS tab, select Bluetooth, and write as specific a report as you can. Be sure to mention your phone is an iPhone 11 (Pro or whatever model). This might help!

It appears to me now that Bluetooth 5.0 devices are good, and that Bluetooth 4.x and 3.x devices are the ones that won't stay connected for my iPhone 11 Pro.

I bought a new Bluetooth 5.0 headset since I need to use my phone for work every day and I have only had one disconnect event in 2 full days of use. My Bluetooth 3.x headsets were disconnecting every 10-30 seconds. I'm hopeful that the steady connection using BT 5.0 remains, but they really need to get the previous versions working correctly. You can't just release a new phone and say it's not backward compatible with a huge swath of commonly used products out in the wild!

Apple did tell me the more calls with affected devices the sooner they will have a resolution. The things the senior advisor I spoke with was looking for were:

1) operating system. If your iPhone 6 works with it and your iPhone 11 doesn’t, but you’ve updated your iPhone 6 to 13.1.3 and both phones are running on iOS 13.1.3 then that is helpful information they need.

2) Also, there are a number of troubleshooting steps the first level advisors are supposed to do before they transfer up a level. They can’t have every first level advisor trained to problem solve at the level of a senior advisor and they need the first level advisors to go through all the initial resolution steps so they learn what does work and what doesn’t work before transferring up a level. Also, as you move up the phone tree they are attempting to get you to someone dealing with your specific Bluetooth issue(s) (there are numerous variations on a theme)

2) Why do some iPhone 11s not function with Bluetooth correctly. My iphone 11 pro max Bluetooth disconnects from my Toyota Sienna 2017. The homework I was asked to do before the advisor calls me back tomorrow is to pair my iPhone 11 Pro Max with my husband’s Mercedes and see if it drops in his car. She already knows that my husband’s iPhone 6 (with iOS 13.1.3) is not disconnecting when he pairs with either vehicle.

3) one of the updates already fixed some Bluetooth issues that they were able to figure out. I took comfort in the fact that at least the Apple advisor I spoke with openly acknowledged the ongoing issues and showed genuine concern about getting it fixed.

so, yes, we ALL need to call Apple at (800) MY-IPHONE.

Then you need to read this-->Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support

And, as the problem is with your phone, not hundreds of millions of other phones, for Apple to fix it you will need to take your phone to an Apple store or contact Apple Support-->Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

solved for me:

With iPhone 11 and iOS 13 the problems with Bluetooth (often disconnected) in my Mercedes e-class (2012) began. Never problems with iPhone 6, 6s, 8 (iOS <13).

I copied the iOS-config from my old iPhone 8 via QuickStart wireless „iphone to iphone“. The bluetooth problems began.

After update from 13.0 to all released versions (i never reseted something) iOS 13.2.2 did it. Now it works stable.
