Bluetooth Stuttering Issues | iPhone 11 Pro Max | iOS 13

My audio (from all apps) playback on Bluetooth devices is stuttering making it sound kinda like static. Currently on iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 13. My prior iPhone XS Max on iOS 13 worked perfectly. So it's either the iPhone 11 Pro Max or iOS 13 on it in particular. Anybody else experiencing the same issues? Thanks!

Yes, confirmed, turning off Hey Siri makes the crackling problem go away for me, after the first couple of seconds at least. I do still have random Bluetooth connection partial or full failures in the car however. I think that is connected to the general BT issues with iPhone 11, but also separate from the crackling problem. Given how slow/useless Siri is with this new phone it isn't too much of a loss to have to turn off the Hey Siri function. But yeah, they were able to make those two co-existing in all previous phones (since Hey Siri was introduced) so you'd hope they can fix this issue also.

So I've noticed something interesting to add to this - A similar thing is happening on my Macbook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6 - Whenever a notification comes into the notification center my mouse and/or typing goes spastic for a time. The only way to make it stop is to close out of whatever app I'm in and reopen. There has to be some connection here.

That is an insane amount of steps! What can we do to Apple to hear us. This is a huge problem! I can no longer have a conversation with a headset (ANY bluetooth headset) and my partner and I (like many) are both working from home. We need Apple to fix this. It is a systemic issue and it's happening on my mac and ipad as well. Every time a notification comes in things go haywire - I have people telling me now that it's happening even without a headset on when we are on calls. It's got to be an issue with NOTIFICATIONS. Thanks for chiming in.

lefty175: Let us know if you have any success after updating to iOS14 Beta.

I agree that it seems that users like us have tried all we can with no success so it has to be on Apple to fix this. It's incredibly frustrating that they are so silent on what seems to be a growing and widespread issue.

Personally, I'm thinking about selling my iPhone 11 and moving back to the XS until this is all resolved. During the day when I am getting a lot of notifications/background app refreshes, it makes using my AirPods almost impossible to use.

Has anyone else successfully went back to an older iPhone model from the 11/11 Pro and had any success mitigating the Bluetooth stuttering?

i use my BT audio in sports mostly like my speaker for basketball, jogging and biking. When your in the zone and the stutter happens it sucks finding rhythm again. I haven't used much on the phone cuz of all the horror stories I've heard but in the BT department makes me feel as though i have an inferior product instead a top of the line. really hoping to beta updates firmware to fix these ongoing bugs.

I did not notice this when I first brought Echoes into my house. The really weird thing is: I have not changed a single thing around my house-I have not changed the WiFi again, I have not gotten rid of any Bluetooth devices, I have not messed around with my phone anymore-and suddenly the problem has disappeared for about 4 days now. I am completely at a loss for what could have caused this change. I highly doubt that any of my neighbors are close enough for their Bluetooth devices to be affecting mine. Maybe their WiFi could be affecting mine and I wish I had taken a screen grab of when I did a network scan recently so I could compare it to what it looks like now. The other odd thing was that it first started as I could use it in certain areas of the house, but in others I would have the issue, over several days it just went away altogether. This whole thing totally bewilders me.

Given that this Bluetooth issue is very prominent, I wonder if we can get people

to reply to this post to share which devices they have and which ones have the phones interacted in the past with and see if we can find a common trend of Bluetooth activity. My new 11 pro max has started developing a symptom that I didn’t recognize before in my

last phone that got this problem: the alarms will go off nearly 5 seconds later than my husbands 11 pro max when have the same alarm set for the exact same time, and he’s never had this bug. I hope this isn’t a precursor to the Bluetooth breaking again. But I digress; my phone is only actively connected to 1 device the entire time and that’s my Apple Watch. If any of you have the below devices that currently or in the past connected to your iPhone even if you had it “forget the device” please list them in the reply to this post:

device 11 pro max 512gb gold - T-Mobile

2 echo dots (2nd gen)

2 etekcity WiFi smart plugs

4 Amazon smart plugs

bose 2 speaker

bose 3 speaker

airpods

airpod pros

hidrate 2 water bottle

State Farm drive safe beacon

Hyundai Elantra 2013

apple watch gen 2

Reply to Bank G, glad you tried all of those fixes rather than me who is certainly technically challenged and that I made years old. But to your conclusions I don’t think I agree I think it’s in the phone. All of my phones prior to the iPhone 11 worked fine in my car in the house everywhere I went I didn’t ever have any of this stuttering Rob calls Bluetooth is not working. All I want now is a give them

I returned my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Best choice I've ever made.

Even low end budget phones from alternative competitors (which I'm using for now) has much more stable bluetooth.

I switched to apple again for that short time because I was told apple had good support, due to Android's being so fragmented and by many companies.

Well, Apple support was no better. They had no knowledge about the issue, even when pointed to this post. They did nothing to help resolve it besides look up info on their FAQ page, there is no top level support from what I see, just peons reading a FAQ "Have you reset your phone? System Restore" etc etc...... The only solution was to keep getting replacement phones sent out to me until it magically is fixed.....

I am baffled how no tech reviewers caught any issue like this. It almost makes me think they never really use a phone like a real person. As this issue does not seem to be a few isolated cases, as demonstrated by this thread.
