Bluetooth Stuttering Issues | iPhone 11 Pro Max | iOS 13

My audio (from all apps) playback on Bluetooth devices is stuttering making it sound kinda like static. Currently on iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 13. My prior iPhone XS Max on iOS 13 worked perfectly. So it's either the iPhone 11 Pro Max or iOS 13 on it in particular. Anybody else experiencing the same issues? Thanks!

Same. iPhone 11 Pro. Haven’t tried disabling Hey Siri yet, but have noticed that Hey Siri is half broken compared to my XS and all phones prior (like super slow to hear me, and even slower to do anything once it has heard my command). They really can’t do stable releases any more can they (top few most valuable companies in the world etc etc). And we’re a good few patch versions in now...

Just to update, I turned off the power on all of my Bluetooth devices at home and turned them back on again. I also left an older amazon echo unplugged for a week or so that I thought was the culprit. I haven’t had any stuttering since. After the week I did a hard reset on that echo and started it up again and I haven’t had any stuttering issues. I hope I have solved it once and for all!

I returned my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Best choice I've ever made.

Even low end budget phones from alternative competitors (which I'm using for now) has much more stable bluetooth.

I switched to apple again for that short time because I was told apple had good support, due to Android's being so fragmented and by many companies.

Well, Apple support was no better. They had no knowledge about the issue, even when pointed to this post. They did nothing to help resolve it besides look up info on their FAQ page, there is no top level support from what I see, just peons reading a FAQ "Have you reset your phone? System Restore" etc etc...... The only solution was to keep getting replacement phones sent out to me until it magically is fixed.....

I am baffled how no tech reviewers caught any issue like this. It almost makes me think they never really use a phone like a real person. As this issue does not seem to be a few isolated cases, as demonstrated by this thread.

I finally figured out with 100% certainty what my issue was. I have had a device unplugged for several weeks and have not had one issue with stuttering on my phone until I turned the device back on yesterday and instantly started to get stuttering from Bluetooth audio streaming, even in my car parked out at the end of the driveway. The device is a Logitech Bluetooth audio adaptor for wireless streaming. It is a small square black box with a blue, Bluetooth icon on the top that is on sale on Amazon for $40. I have had mine for several years so maybe I have a defective unit or an earlier model. It also explains why I have had this stuttering issue crop up for years through several different iPhones and follow me through different homes. I used to use this device to stream my audio to my home surround sound system. While the Logitech device still works great in that respect, it seems to have an issue where it interferes with iPhones streaming Bluetooth audio even after you have unpaired it.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this in case it might help some of you with your streaming Bluetooth stuttering issues. Maybe you may not have one of these Logitech devices but you probably have a defective Bluetooth device in your home within range that is causing the same type of interference.

Thank you so much for the Logitech advice. I have the same Logitech unit and have experienced years of audio stuttering to my Bose speakers, particularly at a distance from that device.....worse in the yard vs in the house. Once I unplugged power to the Logitech device, the audio stuttering completely stopped. I imagine others on this thread have a rogue Bluetooth device causing similar issues.

Well, after months of having the issue disappear and not recur the stutter suddenly came back with a vengeance. Now, I will be listening to anything on my iPhone, the stutter will start, then I will cease hearing the music completely. If I switch to the iPhone speaker and back to my Powerbeats Pros I will hear the sound again. Absolutely no issue with the Powerbeats Pro when connected with any other device.

Playin a Bose Color till the battery died. Plugged it into the charger and grabbed the Soundlink Mini. Sounded like a short in the Bluetooth connection; very intermittent. Tried the Revolve.... same issue. Reboot phone, turn off Siri, turn off all other radios; cell, WiFi... same. I forgot to turn off the Color when I plugged it in for a charge. A really long distance away...... guess it was still JUST pinging. Make sure all other Bluetooth devices are either off or well out of range. Weekend fer me....🤪

I think I got this one. Intermittent stuttering... any device.... reset/siri/phone side no good. I found a Bluetooth device, a very far (40 ft) through aluminum siding still on while in the charger. I figure the Bluetooth radios (both the phone and the Bose) were so good that even with that physical interference, the phone (at least) could get a ping from the Bose and went into acquisition mode, disrupting the desired Bluetooth connection. I think Apple needs to desensitize the non-connected Bluetooth device to keep this from happening. I have no Iphone or Bose radio specs or i could debug from here. Mainly it is Iphones problem for it serves as a master to all Bluetooth. Give me about $150k and access to your prints and specs and I'll send the fix to Software for encoding...... Really, I'm that good. Dropped acid with the Waz at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1978 at an US festival. He could fix it.....

Please, insure that no other Bluetooth devices are powered on anywhere in the vicinity. Open the Bluetooth setting and forget any device except the device you want. Try it again. If that works, you have an active Bluetooth device just out of range for a true connection..... just close enough to “PING” the phone. Nothing you can do about it. The PINGING Bluetooth is capturing radio time from the phone in an attempt to connect. This is one reason for stuttering. If that is not your problem, Apple Support.... visit. JOEVID-21.com for mor info. Joe

I don’t know of a Bluetooth bug fix in 14. But this particular bug can be extremely intermittent. If it happens again, go to Bluetooth settings and FORGET every other device listed except the one you want. If that fixes it, let me know and I’ll tell you why. If not, Apple Support..... have a good one. Joe

Even forgetting the device on the iPhone doesn’t truly “forget” whatever device is causing the stuttering. You need to turn off whatever device is pinging the phone. Best way is by process of elimination, connect your phone to a Bluetooth speaker and play music, when it starts to stutter, walk around your house and unplug every Bluetooth device you have ever previously connected to with your phone. When the stuttering stops you have found your offender. Go back to my previous posts in this thread and see how this worked for me...literally years of this issue and I found the culprit device making all of my iPhones stutter when using Bluetooth audio.
