Bluetooth Stuttering Issues | iPhone 11 Pro Max | iOS 13

My audio (from all apps) playback on Bluetooth devices is stuttering making it sound kinda like static. Currently on iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 13. My prior iPhone XS Max on iOS 13 worked perfectly. So it's either the iPhone 11 Pro Max or iOS 13 on it in particular. Anybody else experiencing the same issues? Thanks!

Same. iPhone 11 Pro. Haven’t tried disabling Hey Siri yet, but have noticed that Hey Siri is half broken compared to my XS and all phones prior (like super slow to hear me, and even slower to do anything once it has heard my command). They really can’t do stable releases any more can they (top few most valuable companies in the world etc etc). And we’re a good few patch versions in now...

I did not notice this when I first brought Echoes into my house. The really weird thing is: I have not changed a single thing around my house-I have not changed the WiFi again, I have not gotten rid of any Bluetooth devices, I have not messed around with my phone anymore-and suddenly the problem has disappeared for about 4 days now. I am completely at a loss for what could have caused this change. I highly doubt that any of my neighbors are close enough for their Bluetooth devices to be affecting mine. Maybe their WiFi could be affecting mine and I wish I had taken a screen grab of when I did a network scan recently so I could compare it to what it looks like now. The other odd thing was that it first started as I could use it in certain areas of the house, but in others I would have the issue, over several days it just went away altogether. This whole thing totally bewilders me.

It’s such an annoying thing for me as I listen to music via my Bluetooth every day. I am determined to get to the bottom of it if I have to walk around the house and turn off every device while being connected to a Bluetooth speaker to see if I can get it to stop skipping and stuttering.

Like you it works for me in some rooms but in others it doesn’t. This again makes me think it’s a rogue Bluetooth device somewhere in the house and when I’m in some rooms it’s out of range and can’t affect my phone. My wife can connect her phone to a Bluetooth speaker in exactly the same spot as me and she gets no skips at all whereas I’ll connect sitting right next to her phone and I get constant skipping like a scratched CD. The connection will just drop completely too sometimes and the music will stop.

Given that this Bluetooth issue is very prominent, I wonder if we can get people

to reply to this post to share which devices they have and which ones have the phones interacted in the past with and see if we can find a common trend of Bluetooth activity. My new 11 pro max has started developing a symptom that I didn’t recognize before in my

last phone that got this problem: the alarms will go off nearly 5 seconds later than my husbands 11 pro max when have the same alarm set for the exact same time, and he’s never had this bug. I hope this isn’t a precursor to the Bluetooth breaking again. But I digress; my phone is only actively connected to 1 device the entire time and that’s my Apple Watch. If any of you have the below devices that currently or in the past connected to your iPhone even if you had it “forget the device” please list them in the reply to this post:

device 11 pro max 512gb gold - T-Mobile

2 echo dots (2nd gen)

2 etekcity WiFi smart plugs

4 Amazon smart plugs

bose 2 speaker

bose 3 speaker

airpods

airpod pros

hidrate 2 water bottle

State Farm drive safe beacon

Hyundai Elantra 2013

apple watch gen 2

I think there is some compatibility issue as in iPhone 11 series there is new chip u1 , try to reset settings

then forget the device in Bluetooth and reconnect again

btw I had same issue in my car like 6 months back , and what I realized that when I updated my Apple Watch to latest watch os at that time was watch os 6 , issue has gone

so there was something with connectivity of more than one device

Don’t bother updating to iOS 14 beta, it doesn’t fix it. I also noticed that it happens to me on CarPlay when the phone is plugged directly into the lightning cable into the car USB port, not even using Bluetooth! And again, if I am in my driveway I get this interference the same as with Bluetooth (cd skipping staticky, music cutting out) but as soon as I drive away from my house it goes away. Also got a new Bluetooth speaker this week, same issues as every other audio device I connect whether it be Headphones or speakers and it happens more frequent in other rooms. Still haven’t pinpointed what it be. Nothing obvious that’s for sure. All I can do is wait on the next iPhone and hope it’s resolved.

It’s only when the car is near the house. I was just out mowing the lawn using my AirPods and the music kept cutting out on me even standing a good good 50ft from the house. It’s extremely infuriating. I did a full wipe and restore yesterday after downgrading from iOS 14 beta and it’s still the same issues. As soon as I restore my phone from my cloud backup the issue returns. I don’t know what kind of settings are restoring that are causing it or why I only get interference at home.

I have had the issue with my Audi MMI system even when I'm far from WiFi.

I posted about this on Twitter and got the ear of @AppleSupport. They are having me try to take off my case (I actually just have a bumper that wraps around the edges of the phone) to see if that helps the issue. So far I've had the issue happen once (though seemingly not as severe) with my bumper off and had it start happening once with my bumper on and I quickly took the bumper off and the stuttering persisted without the bumper on.

The search for an answer continues...

My last resort at this point after years of this same issue over and over is to completely wipe my phone and set up as a new phone and restore each item individually from the iCloud like my photos and keychain passwords. The only downside of this is having to take screenshots of every single app on my phone from my settings screen so I have a list of apps to download manually should this actually fix the underlying issue. Wish me luck!

Reply to Bank G, glad you tried all of those fixes rather than me who is certainly technically challenged and that I made years old. But to your conclusions I don’t think I agree I think it’s in the phone. All of my phones prior to the iPhone 11 worked fine in my car in the house everywhere I went I didn’t ever have any of this stuttering Rob calls Bluetooth is not working. All I want now is a give them

If you check my previous posts I linked a thread I was active in on my issue. Your issue may be specific to your iPhone 11 but this issue has happened to my last several phones of different gens over the year. I always buy the latest and greatest iPhone and this issue eventually starts happening months into owning my phones. I’ve replaced so many of them through apple care and the same thing happens again and again.

I use the phone bluetooth mostly in my car for music and phone calls and with a bluetooth speaker when I'm on the lake on my Stand Up Paddle board. With my iphone 6s, it worked flawlessly, never had an issue.

I upgraded to an iphone 11 pro last year, and since then, audio keeps stuttering in my car (music and phone calls), and with my bluetooth speaker as well.

The only solution that works 100% for me is to have the phone away from the car radio or the bluetooth speaker. For instance, if I put the phone in the car door instead of the "normal" spot under the car radio system in the center, I don't have any issues with music or phone calls. As soon as I bring the phone closer, I start to have issues. Same with my UE boom 2 bluetooth speaker, if the phone is just next to it, it stutters and cuts the music, but if I take the phone away from it (1-2 meters), I have absolutely no issues anymore.

At least I found a way around the issue, but I'm still really annoyed with it. When you pay so much money for a supposedly premium product, you expect it to work properly...
