watchOS 6 breaks third party charging

I just discovered this problem this morning. I charge my watch every night, but when I put it on this morning, I noticed it was already down to 10% charge. I headed into work and tried charging with my normally reliable Anker 40W IQ charger and a 3rd-party magnetic cable. No dice. Will not charge. Not being able to supplement my Apple hardware with 3rd-party cords, chargers, etc is not exactly how Apple burnishes their reputation. Most people need multiple chargers for travel, work, etc. Having to buy only Apple products changes the math considerably.

You're right, it would be a really bad move. Would the watch be able to tell a licensed charger from a cheap, non-licensed one, though? I don't know if that kind of verification is possible, and if Apple would use it to "brick" non-licensed chargers...

What do you think?: Are we from a minority with this problem and for whom we should simply ask for a repair or if the problem is widespread? I am very worried about finding any other comments about this on the web. My manufacturer (Nomad) also mentions me that they have not received any complaints about this which is very weird...

So we wait patiently for an upgrade to watch OS6.1?

in the meantime our third party charges gather dust.

WatchOS 6.1 beta 1 has been out for a while now. I wonder if anyone upgraded and tried his third-party charger?

Same problem here. Apple Watch 4 running watchOS 6. It starts charging and after 2 minutes or so return back to the “home” screen.

Updated to 6.1 beta still facing same issue.

My bad. It still does that, but not as often. It beeps every 10 minutes or so, not 10 secs as before.

Yup, the issue still persists.

Are we the only ones to have a version with this problem or if the problem is generalized? I really do not find much more info on the problem except on this forum ..

I am also really surprised that such major problem is not being noticed. It seems that it would affect the majority of AW users. I guess people are not really rushing to install watchOS 6.

Or the vast majority aren't using 3rd party chargers.

Having the same issue. Series 4, worked fine with 3rd party chargers until updated.

HOW ABOUT REVERTING TO OS5, APPLE? HOW CAN WE GET OUR WATCHES BACK TO A WORKING STATE???
