watchOS 6 breaks third party charging

Thanks and I thought as much, but the two devices that I have from third parties that worked flawlessly with my Series 2 Watch have stopped working with my Series 5 (WatchOS6) watch; displaying the charge logo for about 5-10 seconds then resetting. I am worried this might cause damage to the battery in the watch but also seems to drain the battery rather than charge it.

Yep. Might be a bit, but hopefully just a problem in the OS instead of hardware. There is also an issue with IOS 13.1 which appears to have disabled quick charging on some iPhone 11’s by only allowing 5w instead of the necessary 7.5w for QC.

No, I’m using a licensed third party charger and it doesn’t work after the update. Raised the issue with Apple and they said it might be fixed in a future update. Until they, Apple bricked my charger.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, that sounds like bad news for many people, myself included. I get the feeling we're just gonna have to make do with the stock charger (or buy another, more expensive, certified 3rd-party charger).

Heard it today on the news with Apple product updates. They say that Apple is most likely trying to isolate their own product line rather than have the user have a choice of 3rd party brands... not cool..

My s4 Apple Watch charges to 100% . It continues to say charging but the battery drops while on charger doing nothing . All background app refresh is off but still gets hot even at 100 percent like it’s not communicating with charger properly so it’s charging enough to keep it warm but not enough to keep battery charged . Some days after it’s been fully charged I’ll look at it later and it can be as low as 70 percent . Using 3rd party charger dock and it’s not MFI certified but worked fine before (it’s always stopped randomly during charging then started again but always used to stay fully charged afterwards) they need to let us disable charging sounds so we don’t have to put our device on silent .

I have the same issue on AW S5 and WatchOS 6 with a wireless 3 in 1 dock. Works fine with original charger.

Thing is, 3rd party chargers were working flawlessly too, until watchOS 6 dropped. I'm pretty sure something is wrong with the OS, since the chargers are still doing what they were doing before...

I use the Nomad charger wich is certified and I have charging problem since WatchOS 6.

I haven't seen any other post that mentioned AMP. I would contact them and give them your exact model.

Regarding Nomad. Aren't you supposed to use your own AW charger in their wireless hubs?

What programs are you refering to and does this not rather negate the benefits of the Watch? After all few of us bought our Apple Watch to use primarily as a watch.

What programs (apps) are you suggesting are causing the problems?

I am having the same problem. This is ridiculous.

That’s not good news, surely it has to be in Apples interest to sort this out as a priority a number of its third party manufacturers who have paid to produce licenced products to work with apple stuff will be a bit put out!

Wrong - Apple staff routinely monitor discussion threads. Read the title of the thread. I'm stating like many that my 3rd party chargers no longer work after updating. The inability to revert to a previous OS is ridiculous.
