iPhone 11 - Siri not working with bluetooth helmet

I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to the iPhone 11 Pro, and now Siri does not work anymore when being activated via the "voice command" button on my helmet's bluetooth headset.

Specifically - when I activate Siri using the headset, Siri gets activated correctly and asks "What can I help you with". But when I ask her anything (ex. "what time is it"), she first says "just a moment", then "hold the line please", eventually erroring out with a "Sorry, I'm having trouble with the connection. Please try again in a moment".

If instead, still with the helmet on, I activate Siri by tapping the Siri button on the phone, and then issue the "what time is it" command, she answers immediately.

I also tested with the first version of the AirPods, and Siri activates and responds just fine with those.

The phone is not in driving mode. It's using WiFi and the router is 3ft behind me. The issue is thus not a connection issue, but simply a nice big bug related to bluetooth.

I never had this problem with previous iPhone models. Is anyone experiencing similar issues?

Thanks - both an iPhone 8 and another 11 Pro worked (both iOS 13), so I kept insisting with troubleshooting. While rebooting the phone using the "usual" slider didn't help, I eventually tried using the "Settings - General - Shutdown" command and then turning it back on. This method of rebooting it was what eventually fixed the issue.

Agree. I upgraded to 13.2.3 and this has introduced a new problem. Now, when I say “Hey Siri” through the helmet, I get the sound which I think means “ok, I’ve stopped listening now and I’ll act on your command.” This is before I’ve even had a chance to say my command. In the past, I had time to issue the command, then I got the sound, but then Siri reported back about the connection error. As usual, issuing commands directly to the phone works fine.

Same issue with Cardo freedom4+. Has been working fine now simply ignores the voice request for Siri and yesterday has started to ignore the button to activate it from the helmet bluetooth. Also Siri has been very temperamental with working anyhow - using OS13.3.1, (latest update to the freedom4+ btw). This also via the AirPods (2nd Gen) and these are a replacement too.

I too Have had to reset to factory settings the bluetooth equipment deleted it from the iPhone and added it as new and I despair at Siri these days.

Is this just a glitch or is there more issues with Siri and iPhone 11 with OS13...?

Hugs and gratitude people :)

If there is a bug in the software. No one will ever tell you. If you call Tech Support, they will have you restore the phone from iTunes, delete that then restore the phone as new, etc. you will be put through a series of hopefuls that will do nothing but will eventually make you give up. The person who posted under you stated that they will skip any other suggestions. That’s what I have done. It seems all we can do it wait for a fix in future iOS updates. Again; if there is a bug, Apple is never going to admit it. Not even to their tech support.

Just to say that I have the same problem with the SMH-10H-fm - worse still, since the last update 13.4.1 the bluetooth does not even detect my helmet anymore which always worked very well before. I installed the latest Sena updates as well, so the problem really comes from Apple. I don't understand how they can drop people like that. Sorry for my English, it is a translation...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm doubtful that (firmware) is the issue. Siri activates and hears the command from the headset just fine. But once I finish talking the phone thinks there's a network connectivity issue, which makes no sense. The pairing with the headset was a brand new pairing as when migrating from one phone to another, all the bluetooth connections have to be re-established. Resetting all pairings from the headset did not help either.

I am not having that ssue. I have used Hey Siri and Hey Cardo commands at over 100km/h (60mph) without any issues. I do find that I have to speak at a normal level. If I shout or speak loudly it only sometimes works. If I speak in a normal voice, no problems. It might be worth experimenting with rhe "VOX Sensitivity" setting on the Cardo Community page. I have mine set to Medium (default).
