iPhone 11 - Siri not working with bluetooth helmet

I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to the iPhone 11 Pro, and now Siri does not work anymore when being activated via the "voice command" button on my helmet's bluetooth headset.

Specifically - when I activate Siri using the headset, Siri gets activated correctly and asks "What can I help you with". But when I ask her anything (ex. "what time is it"), she first says "just a moment", then "hold the line please", eventually erroring out with a "Sorry, I'm having trouble with the connection. Please try again in a moment".

If instead, still with the helmet on, I activate Siri by tapping the Siri button on the phone, and then issue the "what time is it" command, she answers immediately.

I also tested with the first version of the AirPods, and Siri activates and responds just fine with those.

The phone is not in driving mode. It's using WiFi and the router is 3ft behind me. The issue is thus not a connection issue, but simply a nice big bug related to bluetooth.

I never had this problem with previous iPhone models. Is anyone experiencing similar issues?

There's a possibility that the helmet is not compatible with the iPhone 11 series or possibly iOS 13. You'll want to check with them to see if there's a firmware update. Also, you could try completely forgetting the helmet in your Bluetooth settings on the phone and setting it up as a new device.

And it was a good suggestion. I would have thought the same if it hadn't previously worked for me. Restarting the phone definitely worked. There's no issue with the network, since siri works when you initiate from the phone itself. Even when you initiate from the helmet, you can see siri register your voice but words don't show, and then it says there's a network problem.

Agree. I upgraded to 13.2.3 and this has introduced a new problem. Now, when I say “Hey Siri” through the helmet, I get the sound which I think means “ok, I’ve stopped listening now and I’ll act on your command.” This is before I’ve even had a chance to say my command. In the past, I had time to issue the command, then I got the sound, but then Siri reported back about the connection error. As usual, issuing commands directly to the phone works fine.

Same issue here using L1M in my helmet. Worked perfectly last IOS 12, "wait a moment.." messages started after IOS 13 update. Sometimes it still works, but it's an exception. If I pull my iPhone out of my pocket and use Siri from the device's microphone, everything works. BTW Siri could be improved a lot for drivers - for example allowing to unlock iPhone just saying pin in helmet.

I test buetooth headsets every day. I have a lengthy pairing list. With iPhone5S and now iPhone7, an iPhone X at the office, etc. have never seen this problem until iOS13.1.2. I test many different brands of headsets to check firmware function of the feature to activate Siri. I am now having this problem with all headsets. That point to the iOS. Same headsets were working great to activate Siri before this iOS update. Has anyone discovered a real solution? Hard to find it on this thread.

I started having problems with Siri also. Finally 'apple care' replaced the phone. The replacement phone did it also but the problem with the replacement is that it didnt ring everytime, so this phone was replaced with yet another phone which Siri works intermittently on also. This was 2 trips to the "Genius Bar" for nothing. Not to mention the hours spent on the phone with Apple Tech Support.

I loaded ios 13.3 on my iPhone 7 and now siri works half the time also. I have a lot of time invested in this problem. Apple is using its customers to help them troubleshoot the phones for FREE. I've given up on a fix. Apple knows there is a problem and they believe by making us think they care will give them time to make a patch. When you call tech support for help, they know there is a problem but they wont admit it, they just square dance with you round' and round' until you tire and give up. Thats where I'm at... I have given up on a resolution
