Wifi keeps dropping on new Iphone 11

I bought my new Iphone 11 yesterday and on both wifi networks (at home and at work), the network will not stay connected. It will connect after I manually choose the wifi network but as soon as I lock the phone, it drops it again. ???

I had the same issue and replaced my IPhone 11 3 times. Apple suggested many solutions to no avail. Lately, 10 days ago, I discovered that it is not a phone issue but the wifi router issue. I have disabled the " Band Steering" so now it is only working on 2.4 GHz while before it was alternating between the 2.4 and the 5GHz and that caused the problem. I have had no issue at all since then.

So log in to your router's IP address from a device connected to your modem and go to Wifi settings, then go to 2.4 GHz band WiFi, remove tick next to band steering and save settings.

I had the same problem, I have many other Apple devices and they all work fine except for my new IPhone 11. Tried everything with Apple support to no avail. Then I was told by my internet/wifi provider to reset the wifi modem and it WORKED.

There is a little hole at the back of the wifi modem with the word ‘reset’, use a paper clip or a pin and push it into the hole for 15 seconds. This will restart and reset the modem.

My IPhone 11 has been working great with no wifi disconnections at all since then.

Hope this will help. Appreciate if I can have your feedback.

Hello seher8,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble remaining connected to Wi-Fi when your iPhone 11 locks. I'd be happy to provide information about this.

If your iPhone doesn't reconnect to Wi-Fi a few seconds after unlocking it, try the steps here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps. Take care!

The only way is to turn off your phone and back on again or reset your network under Setting ~ General ~ Reset ~ Reset Network Settings.

Yes I thnk my only option is to go to Apple and request an iPhone 10 as this is causng me loss of business just like it is causing others additional data, which it did to me as well.

I dont understand why so many people are making comments and there is no response from Apple.

I have three iPhones in front of me right now. 1) iPhone 6S, 2) iPhone X, 3) iPhone XS Max. All of them connected to the same Wifi at home. The first two NEVER drop Wifi connection when they go into Lock Mode, Screen Saver, Sleep mode etc. WiFi is always available regardless if I have a VPN connection or not. Therefore my Wifi Calling is always available as are apps like WhatsApp Web that are connected with the first two iPhones. I have no complaints and everything works as it should.

However, the iPhone XS Max, the newest of all my phones, will ALWAYS drop Wifi when it goes into Lock Mode, Screen Saver, Sleep mode etc. Hence, WIFI CALLING, WEB APPS - NOTHING WORKS!!! I have wasted over a week trying to trouble shoot this problem, searching online, reseting network settings, hard restart, soft restart, with VPN, without VPN - Nothing Works. It is very disappointing that the Apple Genius's here cannot confirm how to fix this error. I dont want my iPhone XS Max to reconnect to the WiFi a few seconds after I unlock it, I want to REMAIN connected just like my first two iPhones so that I may be able to use them all in the same way.

How do I get my iPhone XS Max NOT TO DROP THE WIFI CONNECTION SO IT WORKS (with regards to not dropping Wifi Connection) EXACTLY LIKE MY iPHONE 6S and MY iPHONE X?

I'm not the only one with this issue so kindly put forward the solution.

Thank you!
