Wifi keeps dropping on new Iphone 11

I bought my new Iphone 11 yesterday and on both wifi networks (at home and at work), the network will not stay connected. It will connect after I manually choose the wifi network but as soon as I lock the phone, it drops it again. ???

I had the same issue and replaced my IPhone 11 3 times. Apple suggested many solutions to no avail. Lately, 10 days ago, I discovered that it is not a phone issue but the wifi router issue. I have disabled the " Band Steering" so now it is only working on 2.4 GHz while before it was alternating between the 2.4 and the 5GHz and that caused the problem. I have had no issue at all since then.

So log in to your router's IP address from a device connected to your modem and go to Wifi settings, then go to 2.4 GHz band WiFi, remove tick next to band steering and save settings.

I open this will help all those who are facing this issue.

Same problem for the past week on my brand new 11 Pro. I’ll notice the WiFi drop and cellular kick in randomly, back and forth. I’ve tried every troubleshoot solution possible that I have found aside from setting the phone to factory (forget network, reset network settings, reset router, soft reset on phone). WiFi stays connected to my other devices and old iPhone 7 that did not have the latest software update installed. Currently on 13.3 iOS. Apple- HELP!

I have tried basically every solution that has been given . I even completely erased my iPhone 11 and didn’t restore from backup . I have downloaded new firmware for my router. Some things have helped for over 24 hours but the issue always comes back at some point . I have been thinking about bringing my phone in to be switched out for another one but I don’t want to do that if the next phone is going to have the same issue .

Thank you for your input and I’m glad you were able to solve your issue .

After reading so many posts I dont know if I feel better that I am having the same continual issue or not. I have had my new iPhone 11 for about 5 weeks now. Reset it twice, had it replaced with a new phone once, had a new SIM card replacement and still have continual issues. Not only the WiFi connection dropping out every 15-30 seconds and having to reset the network everytime to get a connection for another 15-30 seconds but also the screen blacking out in the middle of calls, middle of using the phone on apps and just looking at photos. This is the worst phone I have every had from Apple and given most of us rely on this for work and I am now stuggling to do business with my clients because my phone just hangs up on them, I could not be more disappointed. Apple store blame Optus and say it is not the phone but given the threads I have just read, I am certain it is a major fault in the iPhone 11.

I am currently travelling overseas, and how frustrating is it that I am having so many issues with the phone. It is costing me so much money in roaming data charges because I cannot hold a WiFi connection for longer than about 30 seconds. When I get back to Australia I will be taking the phone back to Apple and requesting the iPhone 10. I cannot afford to have issues that impact on my business due to a phone which clearly is very unreliable even though it has been out for nearly 6 months.

Apple...I cannot believe after all that I have read and the issues that so many people are having, that you have not sorted this and done a recall or something. That is not good business on your side of the fence.

I guess as you hold a big space in the mobile phone arena, these threads mean nothing to you so you sit on your hands and do nothing clearly. If this is the technology you are moving into the future with, I may need to bit the bullet and move to another mobile phone supplier and move away from Apple all together. I can now appreciate why others have done this in the past.

I’ve totally given up. My issue with WiFi constantly dropping on my iPhone XS Max meant my WiFi calling kept disconnecting. I simply could not be reached. My two other iPhone 6S’s work perfectly with no dropping of the WiFi, however they’re not used for my work. I wasted over three weeks trying to trouble shoot this issue with no avail. So disappointed with Apple. None of the solutions offered have worked. Why do I have to waste my time trying to make something work when it’s clearly an Apple issue.

Yes I have tried everything that people have suggested but the issue is that when you are away from home and you cannot change settings on someone else's router, you are basically skrewed.

It's just not good enough when the phones are super expensive to start off with and then the time taken to do everything, loosing calls, using or paying for additional data when not necessary, should be a red flag to Apple to do something before now.

Thanks for the suggestion but cannot do this on someone else's router. It cannot be a router issue although a change to router settings seems to have fixed this for you. If it was not an issue with previous iPhones and only with the iPhone 11, then Apple need to sort this out and fix the bug in this version of iPhone.

How often do we use an external WiFi for our data when we are not at home. More common than we think.

Hi, thanks for the response. I've tried this also and its not the cause. I have two other iPhone 6s's on the same network and they are always connected to wifi and never drop out. The iPhone XS Max always drops wifi.

I've even tried to mimic all the settings from both 6S's on to the XS Max with no success. Wifi on XS Max always drops.

I never receive my WhatsApp messages or other notifications on the XS MAX, until I pick it up - reconnect to WiFi and then all messages and notifications flood in.

Yes that is a way to "temporarily" fix it but the problem is you have to keep doing this and this can be time consuming when you loose connection with your Hotspot and then have to restart your phone while in the middle of a call with a client so having to hang up on the call restart your phone, reconnect and then phone the client back. Still not good enough Apple.

I have also found having to reset the Network Settings, which does change your iPhone back to defaults and does reboot your phone so again you cannot be on a call at the time you have to do all this.
