iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Not only is it not covered but it is explicitly excluded from coverage _even_ if you have AppleCare. Some people may have got screens replaced but that would have been an exception rather than an entitlement:

4. What is not Covered?

4.1 Hardware Service. The Plan does not apply to:

(i) Installation, removal or disposal of the Covered Equipment, or the provision of equipment while the Covered Equipment is being serviced;

(ii) Damage caused by (a) a product that is not the Covered Equipment (b) accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause, (c) operating the Covered Equipment outside the permitted or intended uses described by the manufacturer, or (d) service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”);

(iii) Covered Equipment with a serial number that has been altered, defaced or removed, or has been modified to alter its functionality or capability without the written permission of the manufacturer;

(iv) Covered Equipment that has been lost or stolen. This Plan only covers Covered Equipment that is returned to Apple in its entirety;

(v) Cosmetic damage to the Covered Equipment including but not limited to scratches, dents and broken plastic on ports;

The only way to get this issue resolved is to report it to the media or the national news about iPhone11 screen scratches.

They will not owe to their mistake. The warranty does not cover it. The iPhone support team can’t help us. I get notifications on scratches like every hour of the day. This phone came out in October, I think. I bought mine December and saw scratches within a week.

Does anyone know anyone in the media?

And where did rbrylawski say that he knew for certain that people were replacing screens or not?

Here:

rbrylawski wrote:

But since Apple has clearly taken the position that scratching one's screen is accidental damage and is not replacing people's screens, even in hindsight, it make sense to put a screen protector on one's phone after the fact to avoid further scratches. Otherwise, the chorus of protests on this thread isn't being read by Apple as Apple isn't on this forum (except the Forum Hosts who read posts for violation of TOU, which is why posts are removed).

Why is there a constant need to keep stating the same thing over and over again? You're not helping anyone; quite the opposite.

Nice selective quoting. You left out the rest of it:

If someone was fortunate to get their screen replaced, like you say you did, count yourself as lucky. Most people are not as fortunate.

So, yes, rbrylawski is leaving open the possibility that Apple is replacing screens, despite their explicit policy not to replace screens for cosmetic damage.

The only people reading this thread are the Hosts, .They only do so to make sure the posts conform to the Terms of Use. There are very few of them (I think about 12 in the English language forums) and they have to read every post. They don't have time to read for suggestions. Occasionally, a Community Specialist will answer a question that has gone unanswered (in certain, not all forums) for more than 12 hours and can be answered by a referral to a support article. More rarely, if there is a specific project that a team wants data on, someone will be tasked with looking for examples. But, if Apple doesn't consider this a problem (anecdotal evidence supports that but that's all), they won't have people searching for this thread or others like it.

If you want Apple to know how you feel, use the feedback page. Those submissions are read and routed to the appropriate people.

And, yes, I think I'm helping the people who are likely to benefit from my help.

I didn't selectively quote him - you did! He was caught in a lie and was called out for it by karsa. Then he tried to qualify his original response.

Here he is making a claim that he has no way of validating:

rbrylawski wrote:

And he gets called out for it:

karsa wrote:

Incidentally, the second part of your claim is unbacked; Apple has yet to make a statement about "Scratchgate". Or do you, as not-an-Apple-employee know something that we don't? Even so, the claim that Apple doesn't replace scratched screens is utterly misinformed, since Apple did in fact replace the screens of multiple users including myself completely free of charge might I add.

And then he tries to qualify his statement:

rbrylawski wrote:

I think you completely misunderstood my comment. I get that peoples screens are scratching easier than before in many cases. But Apple has not been replacing every scratched screen and Apple has told people (NOT ME) that this is considered accidental damage. People have posted in this very thread that is what "they" were told at their Apple store. If someone was fortunate to get their screen replaced, like you say you did, count yourself as lucky. Most people are not as fortunate. And yes, Apple has not commented on this publicly. They rarely do.

Where does it say that? How would you know unless you were an Apple employee? You expect me to believe that Apple is just being careless and hasn't updates their terms?

I know it because, as a Level 6+ member, I have the ability to speak directly to the hosts.

But, believe what you want. It's your time to waste complaining here.

I don't believe hearsay - you present no facts at all to back up your claim.

The only people wasting their time are you and your friend rbrylawski by discouraging people from posting here. People are here posting genuine concerns / frustrations and you guys keep saying the same thing over and over again in a clear effort to undermine them. Again, you're not helping anyone!

It’s been a huge problem since day 1. I actually never write reviews or add feedback in comments, but I have to voice that this glass is very BAD compared to past models. I don’t use screen protectors, I was always happy how the glass on the 10 held up. No issues for 2 years other then a few cracked screens. But never scratches. Within the first week of having an11 pro I knew it wasn’t as good as what I just came from. Just with the normal keeping in pocket, this thing was getting scratched bad. Now 4 months later it looks horrible, even has a small scratch over front camera The camera on the front is now pretty much useless It’s actually embarrassing how bad it looks, so I guess I’ll get a screen protector to cover up the ugly scratches. Apple should definitely have addressed and allow screens to be replaced.

I always keep a screen protector on my phone. A few days ago I dropped the phone face down and cracked the screen protector so I removed it and reordered another off amazon. I work a12 hour nursing shift and have to carry my phone and set of keys I also have a radio and a walk-ie talkie so I must put the cellphone in my pocket. I had happened to put it in the same pocket with my set of keys. A nursing shift is crazy I can’t remember if they were in the same pocket the whole day it’s the least of

my worries...but upon arrival home after my shift I had so many scratches on my screen. I am seriously so upset. I have AppleCare but I refuse to pay any deductible for a screen that was falsely advertised. Your commercials show a high powered fan blowing things on the screen and not a scratch...how is it possible for the screen to be so badly damaged after just 12hours in my pocket...? Hoping someone from Apple sees this and can solve this problem. Im

glad to know I’m not the only one that thinks this screen is WEAK and fragile.
