my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.
Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.
This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.
Apple , you wrote that you have the best ever glass.
So how this glass can get this scratches just in pocket without any items , keys ... in 1 day!
It is impossible for phone which cost 1500 eur.
And now you got very good politics , like it is just physical damages , thats it.
My Iphone X in 2 years didnt have this scratches.
Also I think you see that it is massive problem. I spoked also with technical support who works in Apple , he said that thye have many tickets for this problem.
Same thing happened to me. Hairline scratch appeared out of nowhere... and it’s growing riiiight on the front camera. I’m sick just by looking at it. Never had that in 5 years use of my 5S. Very disappointed, I’m not calling this quality.
What you see in the attached photo is an iPhone 11 Pro in a black UAG Monarch case. The Polaroid branded microfibre cleaning cloth is for my camera to focus on the phone's actual screen and not on what's reflected on it.
The screen of my 11 Pro (2weeks old) scratches easily as well.
However, my wife's 11 Pro does not seem to (pre-ordered).
Should I be using a tempered glass screen protector?
Could it be a faulty production batch?
Mine broke after it slipped out of my hands when I picked it up. A drop of 6inches maximum. I flagged it up here and I was blocked me from posting....outrageous I think......I’m hoping I can at least send replies!
Same here. Like permanent smudges. I didn’t notice it at first I think because I powered it on then removed the clear film and when the screen is on I can’t see them. Only noticed them later when I went to put a screen protector on the phone and the screen was dark. Really annoyed.
Come on man. Give me a break. How can a screen get scratches if you used a micro fibre cloth.
No one could install a screen protector on this phone without sratching their screen. That is really insane. everybody would have scratches right know on their phones..
Hard to bieleved.. I would like to see some pictures of a phone with scratches because you wipe it with a micro fibre cloth..

But as many of the people have said, this scratches come out of nowhere. I have
never used protection for the screen on any of my iphones and they all came out
great. This display is subpar with the older generations and not to mention
with other brands. Very disappointing
I’m confused! If the 11 is tougher then why are people experiencing these issues? It’s particular puzzling as many of these individuals, including me, had previous generations of the iPhone and had no problems.
Same with my iPhone 11 pro max. I got mine on the 10th of October 2019 and just a couple of days ago I have seen a deep scratch mark on the screen. I have never dropped my phone and not happy that a phone I spent so much to buy can easily scratch for no obvious reason. I have been using iPhones for nearly ten years and have never experienced such before.
That is lie. You're here to ensure us we did something wrong with iPhone - like keeping it in pocket. But could you please point to another thread at this forum with 80+ pages with complaints about scratches. That doesn't exist! That is real problem with new glass.
Could you please point where Apple said "toughest" is about screen cracking and but less scratch resistant? They said it is "toughest" without particular usage pattern. And the most usual usage pattern is keep phone in pocket Am I wrong?
I should add if a screen protector can protect the screen, is scratch and shatter proof, why can’t Apple simply make there phones of the same material. We didn’t choose a glass construction they did so it’s up to them to ensure it’s up to the job!
Your story gives hope for quality supply batches. Please tell me where and when you purchased the device.
Apple may not be reluctant to admit the error. But new devices should fix a general dissatisfaction with a screen defect.
I mean, it wasn't said that we will give up scratches for durability. The Verge suggests, but Apple said nothing, this is the point :(
