iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

when i got my xr i walked out of tmobile with a case and screen protector that phone is flawless till this day but it’s something about this 11 that just seems so fragile For the first couple days i had no case i was waiting on it from amazon and i babied the thing but I noticed how different it feels not having a screen protector on in my opinion a screen protector is a must if you want to keep your phone in its original condition ive already noticed fine scratches just around the bezel from putting it in my pocket and i knew better to put it in my pockets with no screen protector or case lol but i also had nowhere else to put it i cant hold it cuz its a chance you’ll drop it i did put it in a xr case but i took it out bc it looked stupid i now have a case for her just waiting on the screen protector. SO TO YOU READING THIS GET YOURSELF A SCREEN PROTECTOR FOR ANY PHONE YOU BUY ASAP.

Same experience here. I have had iPhones for many many years, always used them without protection in the best way possible, never had this many scratches within a few months on any of those phones. The iPhone 11 Pro clearly is far more sensitive and Apple should have warned people about this. Or there was a production problem.

I'm so disappointed in Apple with this issue. Never had screen which is this soft and bad quality. I mean these things happen and it's okay but Apple should really come up with screen replacement program. I know it's expensive but hey at least you wouldn't lose customers. Because I'm not gonna buy another iPhone with this quality.

That's because (at least high end) watch crystals are made of synthetic sapphire.

They are very scratch resistant - but they are highly vulnerable to shattering.

As has been stated multiple times in this thread, the glass Apple (and all other smartphone vendors) use sacrifices a bit of scratch resistance in favor of much higher shatter resistance.

Physics and materials science dictates you can have a material which is very impervious to scratches but that shatters easily, or a material that is more resistant to shattering but scratches more easily. You can't have both.

I had an iPhone 3, 4, 5, 6 and now 11. The 11 looks worse after a few months than all the older models after multiple years. There’s no doubt in my mind that the screen of the 11 is the weakest iPhone screen ever. Is there a way to polish the screen?

No, but you are clearly confusing strength with scratching. They are opposites. The new glass on the new iPhone's is indeed stronger as evidenced by the almost complete lack of posts from people who have broken their screens from a simple fall. That said, it's almost impossible to make a screen stronger, which is also harder to scratch.

At this point, put a screen protector on your phone which will protect it from further scratches and most likely hide the scratches you've already gotten.

The iPhone 11 is advertised as being super strong and scratch proof - in the ad it shows it bouncing around the woman's purse with her keys and other things - seems to be false advertising to me. I had my iPhone 11 for 1 week, I only keep it in my pants pocket or on the table - not coming in contact with anything sharp - and the screen already has 2 scratches on it. I've had iPhones for years, and I've never had this problem before. I think it's a lot of BS and false advertising from Apple, this screen is junk.

Seems to be the same issue with iPhone SE2 ... I had the early SE and never got a single mark, glass was really resistant. Now the SE2 seems to be a totally different story. Also it happens a lot to couples who both have an iPhone with portruding camera. So when you put the two phones in a pocket together, portruding camera from one phone tends to heavily scratch the other. There is a definite issue there with the glass, the old one was very resistant to keys, coins anything else in my pocket.
