iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

Here in Thailand you can’t just walk back to the store and return it - or actually you can, but you won’t get your money back. Why you people think that everything works the same way everywhere?

The Apple Thailand web site shows the same 14 day refund policy that Apple has in most of the rest of the world:

Very smart from you - but the reality is very different. Here’s just one Apple Store in the whole country (that was quite recently opened in Iconsiam Bangkok). I don’t live in Bangkok but totally elsewhere. Most of the Apple products are here sold by various dealers and their really don’t have any 14 days refund policy. If would be truly painful and long process here to return a product and get your money back. I know better than you.

The problem is that I kind of trusted in the quality of this product when I purchased it. I have never complained about any Apple product before this because they have been quite good, no bad problems or defects. That is the very reason I’ve been buying them with for myself and also for my business. However, no matter what you say - this current defect is not my fault, it is either just a faulty batch of material or engineering gone south big time

What is my fault? You don’t know anything.

I am Export Manager in a company that is designing and manufacturing industrial equipment. Recently our engineers made a bad choice in regard to a conveyor belt material and because the material was not suitable for the purpose, it got damaged. Our customer was not happy, it didn’t meet the standards he expected from this product. It was our fault and we had to face the consequences and cover the costs.

This is exactly similar case and it is Apple’s fault. The material doesn’t work as it should and the product doesn’t meet the required quality standards.

Your argumentation is so empty and pointless that this was my last comment for you.

Doesn't even look like a real iPhone. If it's a screen protector, it's a cheap one. But the notch doesn't look authentic at all. I don't question that people are getting micro scratches on their phones. But some of the pictures posted here look like abused phones. And while many claim to have a completely unscratched iPhone (insert model here), no one is backing up that claim with actual pictures of said completely unscratched previous iPhone.

No but it is defective when the clearcoat or paint starts to peal because it wasn't applied properly or painted properly or improper the wrong paint or clearcoat was used. You don't in fact know anything about how these people are getting these scratches, or whether it's their fault or not. You effectively have zero to offer and are trolling them at this point.

I didn't call him a "name." I suggested he was doing something. Actually I don't know if he's a "troll" but if you're not here to help and only here to blame people for something that you don't in fact know is accurate, is that ok to you? What do you call it when a person is doing that? You and the other people here attacking these guys don't know at this point if it's their fault or not, so what is your purpose here? How are you helping?

This particular thread has already been linked to several news articles.
Its getting harder for Apple to ignore.

To my knowledge, there hasn't been a single article on this subject since the second week of October, 4 weeks ago. In early October, there was a brief flurry of articles that linked to this thread, which I suspect is how most of the unlucky few who have accidentally scratched their iPhone 11s have found their way here.

Has anyone seen this?...

I don't see how it is even possible for these phones to get scratched just from putting them in a pocket. Seems impossible to me.

Unless there is a bad batch of phones out there somewhere, and/or some people on this thread are not being truthful.

This is day 4 with my 11 Pro Max and still not a scratch to be found.

~just saying~
