iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Which they did not because the protectors went on as the phone was taken out of the box at the store. Yes whatever scratched the phone glass also scratched the protector as well. Which as I said were only dust particles. Thus the phone screens are not as durable as pervious models. I ran my 4s nude the entire time I had it has now been handed down to my daughter as a jail broken iPod and despite she is 5 years old and also the fact I have a German Shepard that had gotten a hold of it as well it is still blemish free compared to my 11 pro

"Dust particles" will not scratch the glass, but grit like rocks and sand will; current iPhone glass has a Mohs hardness of around 6, meaning fingernails and most metals won't scratch it at all.

It is slightly more prone to scratching than older phones because the glass has been formulated to be much more resistant to shattering if dropped.

Basically, physics dictates you can have hard and brittle or resilient and slightly softer.

Just received my new iPhone 11 after having had a 6 for several years. In less than a week, there’s a discernible scratch on my screen! No incident, dropping, etc. I’m always very careful. Had no scratches on my 6, without a screen cover. I would have purchased a screen cover right away if I knew this was a problem. Suggestions?

Yes, IF you purchased AppleCare+ when you purchased the phone a new screen is $29 if it is actually damaged. And you would be entitled to only two replacements at that price per the terms of your AppleCare+ plan. Also, Apple typically won't replace a screen for scratches under an AppleCare+ plan as that would be considered cosmetic damage not accidental damage.

So the reality is the actual cost for a new screen for MOST people will be:

iPhone 11 Pro Max$ 329

iPhone 11 Pro$ 279

iPhone 11$ 199

That makes a $39 (though there are many good options for much less money) screen protector a wise investment.

I purchase my phone 2 months ago. Our city like many others has been in Covid lockdown. I purchased my phone at the beginning of the stay at home order and have not left the house with it. The screen has scratches all over it. Did i mention it has a case on it? Apple told me it was my fault for cosmetic defects. I spent an hour on the phone with them only to be sent on my way for with my defective glass and disappointing iPhone. I was also told that “the strongest glass used on an iPhone ever” is not designed to withstand scratches. This maybe my last iPhone after 11 versions. Shame on you apple.

William, my husband has had a pixel3 for two years with no case and it also has NO scratches. That is not a helpful answer. The products we purchase for well over $1000 should perform as advertised. If it was not scratch resistant glass, rather shatter proof, they should say so. In regards to the glass not shattering, I would rather it did then I would have been the cause of it instead of a poor quality product.

It's not a poor quality product.

I can direct you to thousands of Internet posts complaining how easy it is to scratch a Pixel 3, and there are people who have not scratched their iPhone 11s.

If you can find an advertisement where the iPhone 11 was promised to be scratch resistant, let us all know.

It would be funny if it were not so tragic to see which responses get removed from this thread – the ones that I do get in my inbox though.

Clearly, the issue at hand is being covered up by moderators, leaving little doubt they are paid by Apple to silence the discontent of ever increasing number of iPhone 11/Pro users.

Perhaps I should post all the responses reaching my inbox but getting deleted from this thread to a blog.
