iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

I have always had apple phones and have never broke or scratched a screen & I tend to keep the phones for years. I have had the 11 for 3/4 months now and have a big long scratch it is driving me nuts. I am very careful with my phones and have not dropped it not sure what could have made this deep of a scratch definite design flaw.

Bill, I'm amused to see this thread is still going on!

This is the first time I've been back (to post a different question) since I somehow managed to avoid getting any scratches on my iPhone 11 Pro during 6 months of normal use. At which point I just gave up on this tread and put a screen protector on because I was going on vacation to a sandy place (and we should all know by now that sand, the most abundant mineral on earth, will scratch any phone on the market).

Can't tell the difference before or after...still no scratches.

I marvel at your persistence in trying to educate the public! ;-)

It's painful to know how extremely easily the iPhone 11 Pro can get scratched. I've had iPhones for almost a decade, and it never happened before. Previous models were more robust in this regard.

It's really ridiculous it got scratched only by place the screen facing my desk. This is PAINFUl. My phone is less than a month old.

Is this included in the warranty?

I had my iPhone 11 for 2 days before the screen scratched in my pocket. My 7+ went scratch free for 5 years. Apparently the newer and thinner Gorilla Glass had to focus more on crack resistance than scratch resistance.

However, it's borderline false advertising to tout the "Strongest Glass Ever" when it's self evident that it scratches easier than earlier models. They should more proactively recommend a screen protector, or perhaps even include one with newer phones.

All the new bells and whistles don't really matter when you have a $800 phone with a big scratch.

As mentioned, I had an iPhone 7+ for 5 years without a screen protector with no issues. When googling reviews of the phone I did not see the scratch issue come up in any article.

All I’m asking is that Apple acknowledge the issue and recommend a screen protector at purchase. I’m sure these complaints are no surprise to the phone’s engineers. I’d happily pay $30 to protect the most important function of an $800 phone.

It’s also a bit disingenuous to say Apple trusts that their customers to know what to do while they tout the “toughest glass ever in a smartphone” that can be ruined by a quarter or grain of sand in your pocket.

Okay. After half a year of postings about this topic I guess we all know that the phone quality is bad. But I am sure that most of us will buy the next iPhone again and Apple is not going to help us. That’s the fact

If that's how you judge quality, then every smartphone from every manufacturer is "bad."

Every other premium smartphone uses similar glass. Good luck with whichever alternative you choose in the future.
