iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

Agree here.

I’m basically being discounted on my experience because I didn’t search for this exact criteria? Thanks.

I researched the phone before purchase, amongst many reviews. None mentioned the screen being breathed on would scratch. There should be no reason that a phone, sitting in a pocket alone, should be scratched this easily.

As far as Tom’s, like many such websites they make their money on traffic, and nothing drives web traffic like a good “Apple has a defective product” story. Tom’s also knows well that all other premium smart phones have people complaining about similar scratch susceptibility, as explained by the Verge article people love to dismiss.

And Forbes has disliked Apple for years.

I was waiting for Apple to officially say something regarding the iPhone 11 screens that is easy to scratch, but I haven't heard anything from them. Since the first week of use my iPhone got scratches on its glass, and I only had used it my pants pockets with nothing else, only the iPhone and I got deep scratches on the glass that was announced as the toughest glass in a smartphone. I use iPhone since the 3G version and never got this problem before. I asked on Apple Store if Apple had an official position regarding this matter but them hadn't even heard about any problem. What should I do about it Apple? I have an iPhone Pro Max and my wife has an iPhone Pro, both with same problem. Really disappointed with Apple, maybe is time to go to another brand, it is getting more expensive each year for a worst quality product.

Comparing a $1,000 phone getting its screen scratched from just being in a fabric pocket is like your $100,000 car paint being scratched from just rain.

Car paint is designed for all types of normal weather. Road debris is not normal usage for a car because it is actually damage, but putting a phone in a pocket is normal usage. Your analogy makes no sense.

Having the same issue. Have had the phone a week take very good care of it and now a big deep scratch out of no where. So frustrating! Never have I had an issue with scratches on any apple product. I have submitted a ticket with Apple and seeing a tech in an hour. Considering returning this 11 pro and going with an android if this is how Apple takes care of its people. Very disappointed in Apple.

I won't say what cars I own but I do have the front of each covered in 3M Clear Bra material - it makes no sense not to and leave the paint open to damage from road debris and wind-driven sand and dirt.

I'm on my third windshield on one and my fourth on the other, thanks to the aforementioned wind-driven debris not to mention rocks thrown up by other vehicles.

Perhaps in other areas windscreen damage is rare, in many areas of the US the average windshield lasts two years at most and windshield chip repair is done perhaps twice a year if not more often.

For example:

CUSTOM CLEAR BRA FILM in Centennial, CO

XPEL Clear Bra installation - Los Angeles, CA

Paint protection film applied is typically at least $2000 per vehicle.

3M Paint Protection Films

It's also quite common for Jeeps, including the Grand Cherokee you cite, to have film applied as well.
