iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

Having the same issue on a midnight green 11 Pro. Found some scratches in the morning and really didn’t remember putting the phone near any rough surfaces or sharp objects. I handled the phone with even more care the next days, and still I see more scratches appearing.

I’ve had iPhones for 6 out of the last 7 years and have not changed the way I handle my phone. I’ve never had this issue before.

If you had an iPhone 11 Pro. You would understand what we are all complaining about. It's almost as if the glass is soft, like it didn't harden correctly if that helps you understand what we are all complaining about. I had the very first iphone and then a new one every year. Never had to put a glass cover on any of them. They would get scuffed a little bit. But this thing after the first day had a gouge of a scratch in it from only being gently handled. When anyone gets a new phone they usually are super careful with it the first few months if anything. Hear what these people are saying. There i something wrong with the glass. This amount of people would not get on here to complain about this if it wasn't an issue. I put a cover on mine and I'm going to live with it. But it doesn't change the fact that there is something wrong with the glass. Understand?

I know what you mean. That first scratch on day one for me was a huge red flag. Luckily for me the scratch was along the side, where the glass curves. But I made sure that the phone was the only thing in my pocket and nothing else for that day. When I saw that scratch. I instantly went on Amazon and ordered a screen protector because I just knew right away there was an issue with the glass because non of my other iphones had any scratches like that in all the years I've used them and this one gets the biggest one of all. BTW. I never used screen protectors in the past and they never scratched. Give this a few months and you'll see what a big problem this really is. This is just the beginning. Just wait. I had a gut feeling there was an issue here. BTW. I absolutely love Apple. I want to make that very clear. I have their laptops, ipads, phones and everything. So this isn't a hater speech. They make great products so Apple PLEASE pause your production and look at the glass before too many people have this issue!!!

I’m also reporting this issue, if for nothing else, to add to the mounting evidence. Noticed several hairline abrasions appear on the front screen after two days of using the iPhone 11. I only kept the phone in my pocket or atop my desk and nightstand. For comparison, my cheap Moto Pure X is virtually scratch free after 3 years of daily use. I have a tempered glass screen protector incoming but hate that I should have to alter the feel of an otherwise premium product. Will consider returning within the 14 day window if I can’t stand the protector. Disappointed that it might come to that, because I was really excited to return to return to Apple after a decade of using android phones.

I would be with you if Apple shows off their phones with a screen protector in their adds. Otherwise, really, what is the point of having a beautiful design and then adding a blurb and blupp to the front and back of it? I agree that you're better off protecting your phone but at least Apple should have the decency not to claim that their phones are tough. They are not tough if the screen scratches from keeping the phone in a jeans pocket. I hope you can agree with this.

There's a difference between tough and scratch proof. The new screens on the iPhone 11 phones are much tougher than years past. They are passing drop tests (check out the tests on Youtube) better than they ever have. That doesn't equate to more scratch resistance. They just won't crack as easily when dropped.

I'm glad you have now ordered a screen protector. It's a smart move.

Like everyone here, my iPhone 11 Pro Max scratched while in my suit pocket (no keys, pen or anything else) in one day, before I had even received my screen protector. Never experienced this with previous iPhones. I don’t have any pictures but there was one deep scratch and many smaller ones. Very annoying in daily use, especially on a brand new phone.

I was able to get it “fixed” since I was still eligible for Apple Care. Went in to get a screen replacement. No screens were available yet (too new of a device), so they swapped the device. I feel like I got lucky because they hesitated to say that it was a “cosmetic” problem and not a true repair. Either way, bad experience but good customer service. For what it’s worth, they said my phone would be inspected by Apple because it was returned so early and that I may be contacted to know what happened.

Slapped a screen protector on the replacement phone as soon as I got it, so far so good!

I have exactly the same problem! My iPhone is 20 days old today and it’s scratched like crazy, my iPhone X is scratch-free never had protective glass on it and it’s scratch-free how is that possible! I’m a lifetime Apple user and never complained but come on I paid 1499€ for my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB to have scratches all over my phone?? There is definitely something wrong here. In Slovenia we don’t have Apple Store and I went to authorized service provider and they just laughed at me???? Wtf??? Please Apple do something about it please issue a recall
