iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

Returned my iPhone 11 Pro Max today to Sprint due to screen scratches. Paid $45 restocking fee. Sprint reloaded my iPhone 6S Plus. Had the 11 for 2 weeks then bought screen protector in week 3 but it was too late. Big deep scratches especially near corners. I suspect it was from being in my shirt pocket with a pen. I decided the screen glass has has flawed composition or flawed edges that easily allow scratches that start at edge or glass. Screen protectors might not go to edges.

Otherwise phone is very good, slightly faster and slightly better telecom than my 6S. 3 camera mode was my favorite feature.

I went to Apple store but they said scratches are not covered under warranty. iPhone 11 pro is my last phone with Apple not gonna buy any product again from Apple. £1299 wasted.

If you’re within 14 days of purchase, return it for a refund if you can.

if not, sell it as used, you should get a chunk of that money back.

To say the money was “wasted” when aside from a screen scratch your phone is 100% functional is patently ridiculous.

I have the same problem. Since a friend told me what had happened to his screen I have taken special care with my iPhone 11. If I put it in my bag it is always with a crochet cover. Outside the bag, I only carry it in my hand (no rings) or leave it face up on the table, yet I got a scratch it came out of nowhere. I went to an Apple Store and as I bought it in an APR they told me that they wouldn't change my screen as if they had done it with my friend's iPhone 11 and that all I can do is not lose hope that Apple will take out a Replacement program for those of us who are affected by this problem. Basically the response of Apple employees is "thoughts and prayers”.

my friend bought it in NYC and make the claimed in the apple store in Madrid, Spain and they changed his screen when he asked to file a formal internal complaint, then the employee called a manager and he made an exception and they changed the screen. I tried the same thing, but having not bought the phone in an Apple Store they told me that they could not make an exception in my case. I think it depends a lot on the manager who serves you.

I have precisely the same issue. I got mine 11 Pro Max on September 20th and today the screen has a large number of scratches on it. Out of a hundred there are 3 really deep scratches! 2 of which clearly seen with a screen on!

I use it quite carefully. Never dropped. Never put screen down. I never have something else in the pocket with my phone.

I had 7 Plus for 2.5 years. I did have scratches of course. But it never had that many and so deep.

TLDR: I went to Apple Genius Bar today in Amsterdam and a guy registered my complaint. I think as more will be registered as much chance we will have to get our new screens.

I hope Apple will acknowledge the issue and run a program to replace the once affected.

I have exactly the same case. Got my 11 Pro Max and after just two days of using it - and being VERY careful - there's already now scratches in the screen that you can actually feel all the time with your fingertips when using the phone. NEVER had any scratches like these in my previous iPhone models - that are many.

Apple - you must react to that and replace these "toughest glasses" to something that doesn't get scratches in two days. This is shameful. I would be very happy with the previous glass.

Based on my suggestion, my wife brought her scratched iphone 11 Pro Max to Apple store today and they did give her a new phone. I am not sure she was lucky and/or it is based on the account history that we have bought so many iphones, Ipads and never complaint about low scratch resistant issue or Apple knows about iphone 11 screen issue with scratching easily. Good luck to others who are seeking justification from Apple.

Apple deleted my report of this issue yesterday so have documented it on YouTube.

Apple Support and tech media, I am willing to be contacted about this issue. Thank you.

Apple, this is really outrageous!

Stop acting like a child and admit you have a problem. Everyone I know that has Iphone 11 or 11 pro got some scratches on the display in the first week of ownership.

It is so obvious that they mismatched the concentration in the oleophobic solution ... Apple should apologize, exchange the affected phones and make sure the production goes well with the new units.

It doesn't matter what your experience with past devices was; glass is stronger now to prevent cracks but it scratches more easily, you have to choose one or the other.

There are people here who have iPhone 11 Pro Max phones without a protector who also have no scratches, but any time you put any piece of glass in a pocket you're gambling on scratches.

If you want to discount what the news reports say about all devices, I can't help that.
