iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

There's actually a funny story with that; I had the anti-glare film put on my 11 Max Pro, and I thought they had accidentally installed the clear one.

It turns out the oleophobic coating on the 11 is a little more resistant, so the first two times they tried the film came right off when they peeled off the backing. 😳

They needed to adapt their technique to make sure they peeled the backing off more gingerly. 😁

I have a small scratch on my phone that appeared after the weekend. So disappointing.... My 7 plus did not have one scratch on the screen. I was excited reading the glass was extra strong and did not put a screen protector on.... Why am I buying a $1000 + phone and have to gear it up with all these protections... I would hope that materials are strong enough to endure everyday use.

You are confusing the strength of glass with it's scratch resistance. They are not the same. Go out to Youtube and watch many of the videos where people are proving how strong the glass is in drop tests. This years new iPhone screens are indeed stronger and much less susceptible to breaking from a fall. But that in no way means the screen can't be scratched.

Yes, you bought a $1000 phone and yet you chose not to spend just a few dollars (you can get protectors on Amazon for $10) to protect the screen of your $1000 phone.

Here's a fantastic option from Spigen: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HRZPYP2?pf_rd_p=183f5289-9dc0-416f-942e-e8f213ef368b&pf_rd_r=T7R4PRDX4DMAZTNZ11NH

You miss the point and are talking as if everyone that is complaining about the scratches is a newbie to iPhone. Read the posts. Most are long time iPhone users that have years of experience and are noticing a distinct difference in the scratch resistance of the screens. I left screen protectors in the past years ago when they finally made screens scratch resistant. It appears that Apple has taken a step backwards in scratch resistance. I don’t want a screen protector on my phone any more than I want vinyl couch coverings or plastic wrap on my lamp shades. If you are happy with covering up everything you buy, continue to support companies cheapening products. I will continue to expect more value not less.

I'm not missing the point at all. EVERY new iPhone release has a thread just like this one. EVERY SINGLE NEW PHONE RELEASE. No matter what anyone says, iPhone's throughout the years have screens which can scratch. There can be dirt or hard grit in a pants pocket, which can scratch the screen. There are things in purses which can scratch a screen. The fact anyone here has not had one scratch in the past was SIMPLY LUCKY.

Everyone has choices. My choice is to protect my investments. And so, I'll never ever have to worry about getting a scratch on my expensive iPhone screen. If you or anyone feels that's an investment not worthy to you, that's your choice. But don't come here and expect Apple to all of the sudden give out new iPhone's to people who get scratches, because that's most unlikely.

Every new phone does have threads about scratches, and those who have not had any scratches so far are lucky. However, as per the new Iphone 11 models, although the screens may be more resistant to cracks due to drops or collisions, its resistance to scratches from materials in a pocket, purse, or other areas are not up to the standards that many of us would have expected. I for one have definitely noticed the vulnerability of this years model when compared to various other phones. I am not sure if the tradeoff between scratches from everyday materials and cracks from falls is worth it. Nevertheless, when Apple said that this year’s model was more resistant to cracks and damage from drops, many of us interpreted this to extend to scratches as well.

That I totally understand.

I see a lot of fanboys here minimizing the problems with the new iPhone 11.

The facts are that many users with previous experience with these devices are noticing the difference and they resonate in the same tone.

For example, my previous iPhones never had this type of problem in which out of no clear cause, scratches will start to get formed on the screen. My old iPhone 7 actually got scratched IN THE BACK, due to some grains of sand in my pocket, however, after a whole day of that sand getting all over the place, the screen was never scratched. Heck, the screens have even gotten hit directly and not only they didn't shatter, but they weren't even scratched.

The recurring theme in this thread is that the new iPhone 11 does not have the same scratch resistance as older models, and Apple's advertising and warranty policies are quite misleading and concealing of this issue. Personally, my experience with support about this has been very dismissive and obscuring on their part. They don't cover the one issue that these new phones seem to have even if you have an extended warranty, and they have misled me or straight out lied to me when dealing with my complaints. They almost seem scrambling to silence out the complains about this issue in a very aggressive manner.

This has been a huge disappointment coming from a company that I used to hold in high regard when it came to product quality and creating positive customer experiences.

Meanwhile, my company phone, an iPhone 7, has not suffered ANY scratches at all in three years, while the iPhone 11 is just full of them in two weeks.

Either the coating or the glass material is very prone to scratches, and the least that Apple could do is tell us they are looking into it, and at least do better than being aggressive to their users and trying to silence the issue...

I have the same issue! Showed up today! I have had mine a week, and I never needed a screen protector since owning a HTC Titan in 2007! I use KID GLOVES with my phone, I use it everyday, so it needs to be in perfect working condition daily.

My last phone I had for 2 years, traded it in and the rep said it looked brand new, so your telling me an LG G6 screen is more durable than a Apple iPhone 11??? COME ON!
