Even though I do not own an iPhone 11, I would like to at least add my experience with my iPhone 8.
Before my iPhone 8, I owned an iPhone 6. Never used a screen protector, only a case. It is my opinion that a touchscreen phone loses the user experience if you add a screen protector. Anyways, after four years of use, I had no scratches or micro scratches on my iPhone 6. The screen was in flawless condition when I resold the phone after buying my iPhone 8.
Less than six months after buying my iPhone 8, it got a long thin scratch on the screen, which was annoying enough to me to get a screen replacement. At the time, I was super surprised that the scratch occurred. The iPhone 8 was my third iPhone, and after owning the iPhone 4 and s6, both with flawless screens by the time I was done using them, I think the proof is in the pudding with how careful I am with my phone.
So I got the screen replaced at an Apple store, and guess what!? ... Less than a month or two after having the new screen installed, once again several micro scratches and one deeper scratch appeared quite literally out of nowhere on the phone.
If the phone is not in my pocket or in my laptop bag, it is sitting on a table, on a charger, or in my car mount. I don’t do anything dangerous or rough on a daily basis that would harm the phone. Just very basic usage.
I am confident that my story is proof that Apple’s smart phone screens have lost scratch resistant quality. It’s very deflating, buying a $1000 phone and having the screen get scratches from very little use.
Apple - you have some explaining to do.
