iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Indeed or it could have been scratched prior to them putting it on. It’s not noticeable as I type. I only noticed it this evening. You can see it’s not cracked.

However, it not acceptable. I do know the guy who put on the protector in store was excellent. He wasn’t happy with his first attempt and did it a second time.

Im not taking the protector off, they can do that when I go to the store.

Regardless I’m hardly delighted. Reading this forum I won’t be upgrading to the pro.

I guess because the picture doesn’t show it well enough- it’s actually much bigger than the picture shows. It’s edge to edge.

Gosh not being impressed isn’t the same as upset. Could be a none issue could be a phone I brought which had a scratch on.

Had the phone 4 days. Two of those days it was in its case while I was in hospital. So it wasn’t used.

I know it’s not been in my pocket, it’s been in a flip case. The protector shouldn’t be scratched as nothing has been near it to scratch it.

It was reported that a new issue has occurred in Apple’s brand-new iPhone 11 : scratch issues.

Of course, this is very subtle and sensitive matter because there is no ‘standard’ to when the scratch occurs, and it is totally depends on user’s activity. There is, however, a common sense level of ‘occurrence’ of scratch. If in similar conditions, and the previous iPhone has no scratch, and also the multiple reports on the issue are keeping coming out, we can make ‘reasonable suspect’. And of course, Apple will not say a word as they did on other issues, because they can say, and maybe say "So if only there is any mal-function on our devices, and really critical problem on your daily using, we can think about it very seriously. But there isn't, and that must have been your fault." This is Apple-method that we are used to for more than 10yrs. Admit it and just get used to it. It’s kind of fate that Apple users have to take.

Yup, totally agree. Not happy with Apple on this one. Considering what I'm paying for the phone. I'm a few weeks in and have scratches never experienced on all previous iphones purchased. I would say I've been taking care of it too. I don't just throw it in with a pocket with keys / coins. This is poor from Apple. Such a shame as the screen (when clear) looks great. Frustrating...and a little infuriating!

I had a little scratch on my iPhone 11 Pro Max as well after just 1 week of use taking extremely care of it, never used a case with any of my iPhones and never had so significant scratches, brought it with me to the Genius Bar and the guy decided to replace it as he wasn’t sure if it happened in the factory or as an accident. It’s worth trying bringing it to the Genius Bar as I didn’t have Apple Care at all and they replaced it.

I guess it’s at genius discretion though..

Is there an invisible display on the screen? Is that why people are getting ghost images? Is that why the screens are scratching? Lines, weird spots. Weird screen blotches.

Or or just installed incorrectly, poor manufacturing quality control (really, Apple?), already scratched glass, and why isn’t everyone using screen protectors?

Why are they scratching like this? And why do we shoot down the poor person who claimed theirs scratched under a protector? ‘You’re must be wrong!’ and all of these other people, too? Clueless and careless? I am surprised how no one seems to actually ‘solve’ the issue, just get a screen replacement. I assume this is also why the IR light tracking your face can’t b turned off either, it’s in the screen?

I can confirm that I have also experienced the same issue. Had an iPhone X for 2 years without a screen protector and the screen has the odd light surface scratch. Had the 11 Pro Max for 2 days and its already worse for wear, I wonder if Apple will do anything about this or if I will need to claim on AppleCare+, either way it’s not acceptable for a phone costing over a £/$1000.

I tend to agree with you. I don’t get the “ your protector has smudges on it so it must be a scratch on the protector “ argument.

I hope when I go in they ascertain it’s just a scratch for no reason on the protector however, if it isn’t then there is an issue which needs to be fixed.

ive got an appointment Wednesday so I’ll update based on what happens.

my money is on a scratch/ crack on the screen.

I’ve received my first set of micro scratches within the first hour that I opened my phone. All I did was place it on its screen to take a picture of the back... no drops, no putting in pocket, not leaving any metal things on top.

Within my first week that I’ve had this phone, the front and the back have accumulated so many micro scratches despite me not doing anything with the phone. I’ve tried to be extra gentle with it until my screen protector arrives but it seems like both the front and the back are getting scratched.

Pretty disappointed about this, especially because my previous phone never had this issue.

I have had 7 different iPhones and I take very good care of them. I have never used a screen protector and I have never had a scratch on my phone. I bought the iPhone Pro Max two weeks ago and I already have 3 very visible scratches. I have taken very good care of this phone and I always make sure it doesn't come in contact with anything that could remotely scratch it. I am very upset and I feel Apple should do something about this. When you pay over $1200 for a product, you expect a quality product. I am very disappointed.

I've had my iPhone 11 Pro for about four days and yesterday I also noticed scratches up and down my front display. This phone has only been in my pocket by itself or on my nightstand (face up). I haven't dropped it, bumped it, dropped anything on it, etc... I had an iPhone 8 Plus for over two years without this issue. There definitely has to be a defect in the manufacturing process for this many people to all have the same exact issue.
