iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Same situation here. I haven't had a screen protector in years because I simply haven't needed it. Day one with new iPhone, large smear looking scratch even though the device was in my pocket (alone) or in my hand the whole time (never dropped, etc).

I ended up putting a screen protector on the device to help cover it up/ensure I don't get any more.

There is definitely something wrong with at least some batches of iPhone 11's (mine is a 11 Pro MAX).

Apple, please respond. As faithful customers we deserve to know that you are looking into this. Major quality control problem here.

Hello,

i was totally surprised yesterday to seen these scratchs too... I was like "WTF?!". My iPhone 11 is brand new directly from Apple Store, i had iPhone 7+ before and never had any scratch like these. My phone is always alone in my pocket, without anything, and i take care of them (cleaning, etc.), i never had this kind of micro scratch. I have no case or screen protector.

Fortunatly, i have Apple Care... But i don't want to pay the fee for that and have the same issue after. Hope their will be a good move from Apple to help us with this.

I've nothing to take a picture for now, but anyway it would look like all other pictures already posted..

This is ridiculous! mine after 1 week of normal use was showing micro scratches all over the device with normal careful use in pockets. My old iPhone 6s didn't have that much after all the years. I'm like if it goes at this rate within months its gonna be a mess. So I wasn't tripping I went to apple store to see the display phones and all of them had some or lots of scratches on the screens. The thing is the average consumer won't notice during purchase because when you hold the phone up to your face you don't see them because the screen is on so the colors take away from seeing the micro scratches. I returned my phone after one week to see how and if Apple is going to address this "toughest glass ever" issue. I read the Forbes article (google Forbes, micro scratches iPhone 11, makes sense with softer glass). I'm back to my trusty iPhone 6s and content for now.

I just purchased an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I'm concerned about scratching my screen based on these responses. One thing I'm wondering is if it's just a bad batch, or if all of them suffer from this defect. Are most of these reports from people who purchased the early launch versions of the phone? Have any of you recently purchased one this week and had the same issue? I'll still get a protector for mine, but I'm curious if it was just a bad batch.

Same boat - my XS has no such issues after 1 year - and after a week of protected case usage on the 11 Pro - the screen already has multiple scratches from just table placement That are deep enough to affect normal usage

Its completely appalling that a $1000 phone has this level of durability. It’s false marketing that this a “touch screen” and I’m reconsidering continuing being part of apple as a result

I moved from two iPhone 6S to two new iPhone 11s. In 4 years of carrying the 6S with average care there was never a scratch on the glass and no protectors were used. In 1 week with absolute care to only carry the iphone 11s in soft pockets, no additional items in pockets, there are permanent scratches on both screens. This is horrendous for a phone costing the much money- please help Apple, the number of customers with scratches has moved from a trickle to a tsunami. What do we do?

I want a refund.

if it's been less than 14 days, and you bought your devices from Apple, you can return your devices for a full refund.

If you purchased from another vendor, ask them about their refund policies.

A cheap neoprene pouch can be purchased on Ebay from numerous suppliers. These are great if you plan to place a phone in any pocket or bag. If your phone is in a case already, buy a larger size pouch. Any grit whatsoever may very well include particles which are as hard or harder than the glass in your phone (e.g. quartz sand particles). Grind this these against a surface in a tight pocket and even the best glass will be scratched. Inspect and clean (or replace) the pouch regularly. A folio style case is another option, as the lid always protects the screen when closed, although you could still get particles trapped between the lid and screen in a dirty enough environment. Bottom line - grit rather than metal keys or other objects are the bane of any glass cellphone's existence.

I've had my phone one day! ONE DAY, and I have scratches along the side from where it comes in and

out of my pocket I still own my IPhone X and after owning it for 2 years without

any sort of screen protector it looks better than the IPhone 11 Pro max. I always

stick with Apple because of the quality in their products, but this is TRASH. I’m

paying how much for this? Unacceptable! The fact that the company will most

likely do nothing about it is really disappointing. I’m a loyal Apple costumer,

but if this is an example of where the company is headed, I’M OUT.
