iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Went to the Apple Store yesterday. I had them look at my screen and they thought it was weird. They checked their system to see if there were any recalls on iphone screens. They found nothing. But the Apple Rep did believe that there these screens are made differently this year. He took it to the back and had it inspected, and told me this is normal by having it in your pockets and that by "pressure" of your jeans, the screen scratches. All I can do is use my Apple Care to replace it because there was nothing Apple could do. I opted out and just left the store.

kcinos,

so Apple explained to you that the "pressure" inside your jeans pocket is to strong for their display. Pfffttt... So according to Apple you have to carry the iPhone in your hands all the time (and better holding it on it’s sides, not front or back). to avoid scratches.

The safest way to avoid scratches is NOT to touch the phone or put it in any cloth pocket. Just think of it as a museum piece!

This is typical Apple and I hope that they get their #scratchgate

I have this same issue. I've had the phone for a little over a week and already have 2 long, fine scratches on my phone. My previous phone was a 6s that I had for over 2 years with no screen protector. That phone still doesn't have a single scratch on it. This new 11 Pro has only gone in my pocket without any keys etc. in it. I am extremely careful with my phones and have never scratched or cracked the glass on a phone. I'd prefer a phone with weaker glass, but better scratch resistance (like the older models). This glass is no good.

Had the same issue. Looked exactly the same, 100%. Was not a scratch but a hairline crack. These are covered by your standard warranty (i.e. screen replacement at no extra cost) if there is no visible damage to the frame and no further splintering. In general, for those here who can feel the scratch with their fingernails and it connects to or is close to the frame, consider it may very well be a hairline crack: Warranty applies.

I have a major scratch down the left side, a small crack on the bottom right and dozens of micro scratches after three weeks of use on an iPhone 11 product red. It’s been in a case. It hasn’t been dropped.

This is hugely disappointing. My iPhone 6 is in better condition and was dropped a myriad of times.

I think Apple has a problem here. No phone is perfect but this clearly isn’t an isolated incident.

Unfortunately, you and your wife are imagining things. In empirical testing by Zack Nelson (@JerryRigEverything), a razor blade will scratch the screen of a 6S, but will not damage the screen of an 11 Pro Max. Not to mention, unlike an 11 Pro Max, you can actually bend a 6S with your hands.

Same here. I just looked at the screen of my friends iPhone 7 - and she's not even that careful with it - had it 4 years - nary a scratch - the 10s I just sent back to Apple was perfect - no scratches. This 11pro has one major scratch right down the center and a few other smaller ones after just a few weeks. This definitely needs a fix, Apple.

Just had an appointment at the genius bar in Düsseldorf, Germany. Management says the deep scratch (visible with screen on) on my 3 week old iPhone 11 Pro Max is the result of improper use. They added that all the displays have the same quality and there are no bad units.

I‘m quite shocked that a screen on a 1250,00€ phone that scratches deeply right after a few weeks is considered to be „normal“ behaviour of the material...
