iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Same thing here. Have had the 11 Pro Max for just a few weeks. I pick it up from my desk (it was laying camera-side down) look at the clock (perfect screen), put it into my pocket (my right pocket where I don't keep anything BUT my phone ... no keys Apple, no keys at all), walk to a conference room, pull it out and was shocked to find a scratch / crack. Top right corner of the screen, big scratch and even a crack. Literally from just putting it in my pocket.

I inspected the phone closely and also see other "micro scratches" on the front bezel just from simple use ... i.e. placing the phone down carefully and carrying it in my pocket.

Have had my iPhone 7+ before this for *years* and never ever experienced this before. Really disappointed in the product quality of the 11 Pro Max.

Just turned it into the Apple store in my area. Wouldn't even waive the $29 Apple Care + fee to replace the screen. If this is a systemic issue, Apple should start thinking what to do to comp replacements / fixes.

I think I will wait for some fixing program even hairline cracks are under warranty because they can change the same screen and problem will comeback.

And the second reason is I’m living in Poland and I think they can refuse it so it could be a waste of time. I’m so disappointed. We have spent a lot of money on apple products like MacBooks, watches, iPhones, iPads.

Unpacked my new 11 pro yesterday, fit him to the apple case, used 1 hour at home touch the screen with clean hands and I have 7 scratches on my screen visible from angle and under the light. This is what I’m not expect from device for $1000...

Have the iphone XS 7 months just in apple case and no scratch on screen even after few touch with coins or keys...

Apple, this is really outrageous!

Stop acting like a child and admit you have a problem. Everyone I know that has Iphone 11 or 11 pro got some scratches on the display in the first week of ownership.

It is so obvious that they mismatched the concentration in the oleophobic solution ... Apple should apologize, exchange the affected phones and make sure the production goes well with the new units.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 11 Pro. I just use it few days and keep it in my pocket. Already have a lot of small scratches. I never have it so easy and fast with my previous iPhone 3GS and iPhone 6.

You do realize, of course, that the screens on your 3GS and 6 were demonstrably less scratch resistant than the iPhone 11 series in independent physical testing? As JerryRigEverything has shown on YouTube, a razor blade will scratch the 6, but NOT an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro Max. Scratch resistance has been unchanged since iPhone 7.

In other words, you are imagining things.

So you really want to tell us that we‘re all just imagining things? Okay, wow.

I‘m happy for you if your screen (if you even have an 11?) is okay, but mine and obviously a lot of others aren‘t.

I don‘t think that it‘s normal that a screen of a 1250€ smartphone gets multiple scratches just by putting it into a pocket...

I have an 11 Pro Max, bought on release day. Before that an iPhone XS, X, 6S...going all the way back to the original iPhone.

So...you do realize don't you, that several million iPhone 11 series phones have already been sold?

And other than the few posts here, there is virtually NO discussion of a scratching problems on any of the social networking platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...

For example, the iPhone subred on Reddit has 1.9 million members. The the last post on this subject was more than 2 weeks ago.

There hasn't been a news article on this in almost 2 weeks. The only articles that did appear cited only this thread and had to admit that independent testing didn't support the claims here.

Why? Because after a few days everyone realized all the testing data showed there is not problem. Millions of people are having the exact same experience they've had with iPhones going back to the iPhone 7: sand will scratch the screen, keys and coins will not. Some people will be unlucky and quickly get scratched (and post here), but most will not (particularly those who put on a screen protector).

You can keep arguing with the facts, but don't expect anyone (or Apple) to pay attention to you.

Tips (real) for a scratch free device :)

1 - If you use jeans, air dry them

2 - If you use a micro fiber cloth, replace it often

3 - Wash that swiping finger often!

4 - And yes finally, treat it like jewelry.

sounds crazy OCD but, it’s how I’ve had zero scratches on my X, XS, and now 11. And I HATE screen protectors so have never had one.

Now, if you took it out of the box and it has a scratch, return it; I did. It’s kind of a pain but with Apple stores it was easy; just say no thanks and buy another :) ... once it’s yours though, beyond that 14 day window, you may have to live with what it was like or you’ve done, or use Apple Care as needed.

And finally, yes, glass shatter level has gone down, but this device scratches at a level 6, just like any prior iPhone. If it came out of the box with a scratch that’s a QC issue.

Same exact problem here. Unboxed the device, handled with extreme care; before my data could even transfer from my old phone there was a scratch on the screen.

So you of course did what anyone would do who got a brand new phone and found it was scratched out of the box and took it to Apple immediately for replacement right? This thread isn't about receiving scratched phones out of the box.

Both mine and my wife's iPhone 11s have scratches on the screen only after about a month of ownership. Both phones are in cases.

Being that we have both had iPhones since their inception, and have really never had any issues with the screens aside from breaking due to a fall, this is really disappointing. And seeing that this is a widespread issue, seems that Apple made a change to the glass that makes it more susceptible to scratches. I hope that they offer some kind of replacement
