iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

I have had my iPhone 11 Pro Max for less than 12 hours and have noticed scratches on the screen consistent with all these previous claims. My previous, iPhone 7 has less scratches on it and I used it without a screen protector for quite some time. This is very concerning considering this phone cost almost twice the amount of my 7. Very disappointed by the quality of the screen glass. Shame on you Apple, you knew this was a problem and still sent the product out to customers hoping we wouldn't complain. I hope this gets some sort of resolution as this is a totally unacceptable practice from such a highly regarded company. this phone is literally advertised as being "tough", this is far from that.

I have the same broblem. It is almost two weeks after I bought my phone but there are many minor scratches! I used my phone very carefully, put it alone in the pocket of backpack, but now I find it as if scratched with a knife. I am very angry about last iPhone’s screen, the worst of rom all IPhones. On the photo it is not a dust, there are scratches

Bought a brand new iPhone 11 from the Apple Store today. Was about to put on a screen protector and already noticed a small but concerning micro scratch towards the right. I am very careful with my devices so this is quite crazy. I’m planning on going back tomorrow for another screen protector (the ones I bought didn’t work out well) and am deciding if I should mention it to them.

If the iPhone 11 Pro Max is so delicate that a screen protector and case is not enough to safely put it in my jacket pocket or jeans by itself (nothing else like keys, etc on the same pocket) without risk to the front cutout where the camera and sensors are located, it becomes too delicate for my day to day use and I might as well stay with XS Max that hasn’t had any issues in slightly over a year of use with a screen protector and case...

I just have a tough time forking out over a $1k for a phone with the “toughest glass on any smartphone” if the area where the screen protector cutout is going to get damaged without abuse from just putting it in my pocket. It’s a very personal issue and I am not dissing the product in any way, it just doesn’t work for me at that price with that kind of advertised features and such delicate glass.

I do plan on installing a screen protector and a case as soon as the phone comes out of the box but I am concerned about the area on the front where the camera and sensors are because the screen protectors have a cutout there and the full coverage ones (or at least every single one I have tried) tend to lift and bubble at the edges.

A scratch where the front camera is could blur the captured photos and potentially interfere with Face ID, etc

Yup, totally agree. Not happy with Apple on this one. Considering what I'm paying for the phone. I'm a few weeks in and have scratches never experienced on all previous iphones purchased. I would say I've been taking care of it too. I don't just throw it in with a pocket with keys / coins. This is poor from Apple. Such a shame as the screen (when clear) looks great. Frustrating...and a little infuriating!

I can confirm that I have also experienced the same issue. Had an iPhone X for 2 years without a screen protector and the screen has the odd light surface scratch. Had the 11 Pro Max for 2 days and its already worse for wear, I wonder if Apple will do anything about this or if I will need to claim on AppleCare+, either way it’s not acceptable for a phone costing over a £/$1000.

I have had 7 different iPhones and I take very good care of them. I have never used a screen protector and I have never had a scratch on my phone. I bought the iPhone Pro Max two weeks ago and I already have 3 very visible scratches. I have taken very good care of this phone and I always make sure it doesn't come in contact with anything that could remotely scratch it. I am very upset and I feel Apple should do something about this. When you pay over $1200 for a product, you expect a quality product. I am very disappointed.
