iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

I was using an iPhone X prior to using the new iPhone 11. I used my new phone for like 2 days and gotten these micro scratches (and 1 slightly deeper one). I didn’t treat my iPhone 11 any differently from my iPhone X. The previous iteration of glass seems more durable and I suggest using screen protector on the get go to spare yourself some pain.

It’s very difficult to understand that approach of you and some others. I didn’t want to get any other brand because I prefer iOS - but it doesn’t mean I wanted an iPhone that gets scratched extrelemy easily.

I didn’t want to ruin its looks and response with some screen protector which I never needed before that. I expected that my new iPhone 11 Pro Max would have a screen with glass that is at least as good as the previous models - but it proved to be much worse.

Here in Thailand you can’t just walk back to the store and return it - or actually you can, but you won’t get your money back. Why you people think that everything works the same way everywhere?

When I read some of these posts by people blaming users for their scratches, I'm reminded of all the times this has happened in the past and in the end it did turn out to be Apples fault. I have an idea, why don't all you defenders of Apple just read and leave it at that, as you're adding nothing to the discussion. You don't know if people had sand in their pockets, you don't know if its a scratch or a tear of some coating, you don't in fact know anything beyond what you're reading. You don't know because Apple hasn't commented officially. Clearly there's a difference between phone screen of the 11 and past Iphones.

If the phone was meant to have a phone screen protector, 1 Apple should have provided it, and/or 2, should have warned people to buy one, do you imagine Apple would miss the opportunity to sell a $30 phone screen protector?

So, my point is, Apple has proven it's never the right thing to do to blame the customer. If the customer did something they shouldn't have then there should have been a warning in the box about it.

Yes I used a screen protector on my wife's 11 but not because I thought a grain of sand would scratch, I did it to protect it against something unusual happening. That doesn't mean people who didn't put the a screen protector on did something wrong, if it was wrong then Apple should have warned people ahead of time. Apple, one way or the other is responsible.

Some how, my wife has a 4s, that has no scratches and no screen protector and it was kept in her purse, explain that.

Very smart from you - but the reality is very different. Here’s just one Apple Store in the whole country (that was quite recently opened in Iconsiam Bangkok). I don’t live in Bangkok but totally elsewhere. Most of the Apple products are here sold by various dealers and their really don’t have any 14 days refund policy. If would be truly painful and long process here to return a product and get your money back. I know better than you.

The problem is that I kind of trusted in the quality of this product when I purchased it. I have never complained about any Apple product before this because they have been quite good, no bad problems or defects. That is the very reason I’ve been buying them with for myself and also for my business. However, no matter what you say - this current defect is not my fault, it is either just a faulty batch of material or engineering gone south big time

Nov 9, 2019 6:33 AM in response to Dogcow-Moof

What is my fault? You don’t know anything.

I am Export Manager in a company that is designing and manufacturing industrial equipment. Recently our engineers made a bad choice in regard to a conveyor belt material and because the material was not suitable for the purpose, it got damaged. Our customer was not happy, it didn’t meet the standards he expected from this product. It was our fault and we had to face the consequences and cover the costs.

This is exactly similar case and it is Apple’s fault. The material doesn’t work as it should and the product doesn’t meet the required quality standards.

Your argumentation is so empty and pointless that this was my last comment for you.

Doesn't even look like a real iPhone. If it's a screen protector, it's a cheap one. But the notch doesn't look authentic at all. I don't question that people are getting micro scratches on their phones. But some of the pictures posted here look like abused phones. And while many claim to have a completely unscratched iPhone (insert model here), no one is backing up that claim with actual pictures of said completely unscratched previous iPhone.

I don't understand your question? Why would I need to visit outside my screen protector, whatever that actually means.? If you are asking if I have used iPhone without a screen protector, the answer is NO. I pay cash for my phones. When I pay $1249 for a product, I take every reasonable precaution to ensure my very expensive product is well protected. That's my choice and it has supported me well over the years. When I go to sell a previous iPhone, I get the most money back for them as my phones are beyond pristine.

If you think this is the very first iPhone which people claimed could be scratched, you'd be completely wrong. Every year, when the new phones are released, there is a thread about screen scratches. The fact you may not have ever gotten a scratch on a phone without a screen protector just makes you lucky. Guess you weren't so lucky this time around.

You had the same opportunity to protect your very expensive phone. You still do. You can continue to moan and whine about this, but it's up to you to do something about it. Not anyone on this forum.

No but it is defective when the clearcoat or paint starts to peal because it wasn't applied properly or painted properly or improper the wrong paint or clearcoat was used. You don't in fact know anything about how these people are getting these scratches, or whether it's their fault or not. You effectively have zero to offer and are trolling them at this point.

Nov 9, 2019 10:02 AM in response to lobsterghost1

I didn't call him a "name." I suggested he was doing something. Actually I don't know if he's a "troll" but if you're not here to help and only here to blame people for something that you don't in fact know is accurate, is that ok to you? What do you call it when a person is doing that? You and the other people here attacking these guys don't know at this point if it's their fault or not, so what is your purpose here? How are you helping?
