iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Yup, this iPhone screen is noticeably worse (scratch-wise) than previous generations. I've kept mine in a sunglass case from the first day I bought it and within a week I started seeing hairline scratches (mostly only visible in certain angles of light).

However, yesterday I pulled it from my pocket and out the case and there is a long, dotted gash right in the center that I can't unsee when I look at it. This iPhone has never been near keys or coins or anything else in my pocket or elsewhere, I put it in the most isolated areas anytime I put it down outside my pocket. It's just covered in random scratches that I've never had in ANY of my recent iPhone models (iPhone 5s, iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone XS.

I have a feeling the shatter-resistance is outweighing the scratch-resistance this time around. Personally, that's a bunch of crap because I'm not worried about dropping my iPhone. I never have and obviously don't plan to. I do, however, plan to use my iPhone normally without the worry it'll get scratched simply from using it. That ship has sailed though and now I'm ****** every time I look at this scratched screen because I have a hard time believing I caused it simply by pulling it out of the soft case I keep it in...

Wife and I came from 2 year ownership of iPhone X. No screen protector and no scratches after 2 years. One month each of owning the iPhone 11 Pro and both of our phones and very large and deep scratches. Both well taken care of, no keys or metal near it. Can you imagine taking these phones near the beach or actually putting them in your pocket with keys? Spoke with the manager at the Apple store today and he called the scratches normal and no way would Apple ever replace the glass. Funny after owning almost every generation of iPhone this is the only one to scratch taking it in and out of my pocket. Disappointing consider how they advertise the glass.

I had a similar experience. I have had my new iPhone 11 for 8 days and today noticed an inverted V-shaped scratch in the upper right area of the screen. In a little over a week my phone looks in worse condition than my iPhone 8 that I had for over two years. I am very careful with the phone, had a case in hand before I even purchased the phone! I have never used or needed a screen protector, but I will have to get one to prevent further damage. I don't keep the phone in my jeans so it isn't near coins or keys. I have not ever dropped the phone and have no idea how I have a scratch that I can feel with my fingernail only a few days after purchasing it. Extremely frustrating that I will have a scratched screen for the next two years.

I am having the same problem with my iPhone 11. Only about 4 days after getting it and keeping it only in a jeans pocket with nothing else and the front screen looks like it has a permanent smear in the upper right and fine lines all over. If I pass my finger on them I can't feel a scratch but you can clearly see them. Both my wife and I had the iPhone 6S since launch before this and they were both practically brand new when we traded them in for the 11. I've owned the original iPhone, the 4S and the 6S and this one by far has scratched the easiest.

After seeing the scratches appear on my phone first we took extra care with hers and have now placed it in a full body case but that really takes away from the beauty of the device. I got really upset after seeing those scratches so soon after dropping so much money on the phone.

I haven't read all the pages in this thread as yet but has anyone been able to get their screen replaced without having AppleCare+ and was there a cost?

So after a whopping 117 pages (and counting) of this discussion thread, along with numerous embarrassing articles on various news, technology, and financial web sites, it is now well known that many iPhone 11s are so scratch-prone that there are no excuses for it -- they obviously screwed something up badly. If Apple wishes to avoid this issue prominently reaching headline news via the big names of media, and if they wish to maintain their reputation as a quality company and keep their loyal and semi-loyal clientele who could easily consider the iPhone-scratch-magnet-11 to be the last straw and decide to start spending their money on other companys' technology, Apple has no choice but to make this right and fix it once for all. As an owner and daily user of an iPhone 5 that has zero scratches after thousands of insertions and withdrawals from jeans pockets (and I do not use a screen protector), I have three questions I need answers to before I decide to risk an investment in an iPhone 11: 1) does this ridiculously easy-to-scratch issue affect all new iPhone 11s or only limited batches?, and 2) do the scratches stop (at least stop scratching extremely easily) after Apple replaces the screen?

I brought my iPhone 11 in yesterday to talk to support at the store. She basically told me tough luck and that I must have damaged it. Ok, so I guess I am a liar now. I’ll sign up for a class action if it gets going for sure. I sent apple my feedback from the appointment and will be interesting to see if the right this wrong or just ignore it. So disappointing.
