iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

Hello Apple-Team,

as well I finally bought my new iPhone 11 and it is a great device.

The cameras are really good and it's velocity in using everyday apps

is very good.

Because of the high trust in your Products I'm not afraid of investing

more money in buying a Mac, iPad, iPhone,... instead of devices from

others companies. From my point of view it would be great to have

also a trustful display in my iPhone 11 that avoid scratches in the usual

quality as in the models before. Sadly I have deep scratches. How would

you feel? A solution for me would be to invest the time and money to travel

to the next Apple Store, there they copy my content to a new iPhone 11

without the scratch problem and without costs for the customer. For me

this would be fair and the usual trust (because of the behavior to treat

a loyal customer) would be back. What do you think?

It would be great to hear something from you and please you make

99% a very very great work. For instance I love my MacBook Pro 16"

and the aspect that you realized many of the feedback and constructive

critics you got from your loyal fans.

Many greetings to California ;-)

It’s been 4 months since your post, have you been able to resolve anything with Apple?

while getting my nails done, my phone sat face up in front of me. I carried my phone on my hand to pay. My debit card is kept in a card folio attached to my phone. While paying, my phone remained in my hand and was the only item in my hand. After paying, I walked out the door and about 30 yards to my vehicle with my phone still in my hand. I am able to unlock my vehicle door by touching the door handle while my key fob remained in my pocket. While my phone was still on my hand, I went to text my husband and saw a two inch scratch on the same area as your phone is scratched. I thought I was totally losing my mind! There is NO EXPLANATION AS TO HOW THAT SCRATCH APPEARED! Now get this...my husband text me today and was mad that a scratch randomly appeared on his phone. I just asked him to see the scratch and he said it is no longer there! It disappeared! What the...?!

I also have trouble with touching screen/trying to close out an app or touching “send” of “ok” or “submit” prompts. One would think that would be an issue with the app or website but it happens on multiple apps & websites. By far, this is the worse iPhone yet.

I absolutely agree. The Apple store today made me feel embarrassed that I would bother them with this issue. They tried to make out that I was at fault. They suggested as their device wasn’t showing signs of wear it must be me and that wear and tear on a glass screen is normal so it’s to be expected. Honestly couldn’t believe it and just left. I felt like a naughty u trustworthy school kid, it wasn’t a nice experience at all.

I have had iPhones since the iPhone 3G and I have NEVER had scratches like this iPhone 11 pro is getting. I treat my phones well and more than that the same as I always have for the last 10 years. I had the iphone 7 for 3 years and not even close to the level of scratches like this 11 pro has already. I had the XS and it didn't have a single scratch on it. This phone's glass is not "the hardest glass used ever in a mobile device" as Apple claims. I want my phone fixed for free, Apple!! I expect his kind of thing from an Android manufacturer, but not from you Apple. Not from you.

So, after 142 pages of discussion we have discovered that the only two persons who state that the glass is absolutely perfect are:

  • a bloke who alleges he has put a mobile phone under an electronic microscope, therefore destroying it;
  • and a bloke who has put his iPhone into a heavy-duty alien looking protective device, and covered every inch of glass with some kind of shield.

The others, have some kind of issue with their iPhones.

This must mean something. Can't be a coincidence.

You can draw any conclusion you want. But in my case, your conclusion is wrong. Anyone who was smart enough to make a minimal investment in a decent screen protector isn't on this thread throwing daggers at Apple. Yes, I like to be overly protected, but just my case and screen protector, which are minimal investments in protection would have prevented the majority of you from whining about your phones scratching. This thread is by no means a reflection of most of the people who own iPhone 11s. Apple has sold millions upon millions of them. Either scratches don't bother them, or in a LOT of cases, they too, believed a very small investment to protect the screen of their VERY expensive iPhone was a smart thing to do.

My iPhone 11 is less than 3 months old and has scratches which Apple will not cover. I cannot recall anything sharp touching the screen; I have never had to purchase a screen protector for any Apple device in the past but I will need one for this phone —- to prevent any more scratches from occurring. My old iPhone 6 is still working and the screen is in perfect condition after many years of use. Apple’s only offer was to replace the screen for $200 —- with the exact same very fragile screen! Apple, please listen to your users and do something about this flaw.
