iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

That’s my first message her after 13 happy years of iPhone usage. I have never had a complaint before.

but: why are there so many scratches coming out of nowhere? Never dropped, never with keys/coins in the pocket...

I just treat my iPhone 11 like all the others I have had before, and the screen is full of scratches.

Genius Bar told me, they can’t do anything. Sure, offered to replace the screen for 200 bucks, I perceived that as very inappropriate.

Apple, You should do something if you don’t want to lose many unsatisfied customers.

i had a screen protector on my iphone 11, and when i took it off, i noticed that both on the edges and under where the screen protector was, i found scratches. I have not dropped this phone. I have dropped other iphones and experienced only minor scratches. The scratches on my screen now are ridiculous. I wish i didn't but this phone. I went to the apple store and the tech showed me his phone that did the same thing. He said even with apple care they can't replace it for me until it breaks. SO disappointed in this screen.

I have the same issue! I purchased 2 iPhone 10s and 2 iPhone 11s and my phone has many scratches from placing it in my pocket. My old iPhone 8 looked better after 3 years then my new iPhone 11 did after 1 day! I think we have enough people on this thread to put an official complaint or even explore other options to take action and have Apple rectify this! Apple please review this complaint and offer some sort of resolution.

I guess you have never owned another phone before because no they don't. None of the other dozen different phones, including previous model iphones, have ever scratched this easily. Don't be an apple apologist.

I never, ever smashed the screen on any phone, iPhone or otherwise until last week when I dropped my iPhone 7+ and it shattered. So, using your logic, and based on my experience, all iPhone 7+ phones have a defective screen because no other phone I've ever had or dropped has broken.

Or, it could just have been I finally got unlucky.

If i used iphone 11 for one year without screen protector then i will need new screen. Many scratches in first month of use. It scratches from the air... My iphone 7 was the strongest smartphone i’ve ever have. I have the first generation of iphone with less screen scratches than my new iphone 11 with 3 months of use.

My phone screen is scratching to crap without any sharp contact to the screen. I have dropped it a few times. My screen was fine upon inspection. My phone cover is very protective and overlaps the screen. My phone was scratched even more today while in my soft sweat pants pockets of my under armor pants. Makes no sense whatsoever. I am going to make a formal complaint because I paid way too much for a crappy screen.

Seems to me this is common with midnight green iPhone 11 pro. I just found out today that my screen has a small hairline crack and I have a tempered glass protector!! What a waste of money and Apple refuses to repair it. How in the world would I have the small hairline if the screen protector itself isn’t damage?? All they did was to scheduled am appt and Bestbuy wants $200 for a small hairline crack!

I think you completely misunderstood my comment. I get that peoples screens are scratching easier than before in many cases. But Apple has not been replacing every scratched screen and Apple has told people (NOT ME) that this is considered accidental damage. People have posted in this very thread that is what "they" were told at their Apple store. If someone was fortunate to get their screen replaced, like you say you did, count yourself as lucky. Most people are not as fortunate. And yes, Apple has not commented on this publicly. They rarely do.

Funny you should say that. I had one of the new design keyboard when they first changed it. Apple replaced the keyboard at least 3 times of not four then offered a new replacement computer after three years when my warranty ran out. They did the right thing then but are refusing to do the right thing now with the scratched glass. it’s disappointing. Reporting it to consumer affairs though.
