iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

I have the same broblem. It is almost two weeks after I bought my phone but there are many minor scratches! I used my phone very carefully, put it alone in the pocket of backpack, but now I find it as if scratched with a knife. I am very angry about last iPhone’s screen, the worst of rom all IPhones. On the photo it is not a dust, there are scratches

Can confirm the issue. Every two years I am getting a new iPhone for many years now. Never had any display protection but never had any major issues with scratches.

Now look how my iPhone 11 Pro looks after just three weeks. And even more shocking the iPhone 11 of a friend. It has far less scratches but she bought it only today, about three hours before the photo was taken!!

Both phones were only in our pockets when these scratches appeared out of nowhere. How can that be?

Edit: I have to add that these scratches cannot be noticed when using the phone. They are only visible when the display is off and there is direct light on the display. But anyways, that is not how it should be!

Apparently my post got deleted so here's pictures of my 10 days old iPhone 11 Pro.

Do I need to add that a trip to the Apple Store was unhelpful and frustrating as the manager of the store tried to dismiss our claims and pretty much tell us that scratches can happen in your pockets and our bad for not using a third party screen protector sooner on Apple's own "toughest glass in any smartphone, front and back".

Scratches can happen, but that many scratches in so few days shouldn't happen.

Add me to the list. I had this phone for a whopping 3 hours when I noticed this. It sat on my kitchen table for about 30 minutes while I tried to transfer everything over from my 7+. When I realized that wasn’t going to work I slipped it in my pocket and walked down to my computer so I could plug it in to iTunes. Once I was done setting everything up I put it back in my pocket and walked upstairs to sit in my recliner. That’s when I noticed the scratches. I never carry anything else in that pocket because I always have my iPhone in there. I can’t for the life of me figure out how it happened. Personally, I think Apple got some defective screens from their supplier with a soft outer layer. I’ve had my 7+ for three years and it only has some very, very minor scratches. I work construction so it’s not an easy environment. I hate to see what the 11 will look like after three years. They need to make this right. I’d be happy if they would agree to either a free screen replacement or $29 like they charge if you have AppleCare.

I never suggested you're making anything up. I'm suggesting anyone could have avoided this on their VERY expensive iPhone with an inexpensive screen protector. Whether anyone wants to understand the difference between harder glass and scratch resistance is up to them to do some research.

Then again, this is how my iPhone looks after a few weeks (picture taken moments ago):

How does yours look?

10 days ago we replaced both of our phones with 11 Pro's. My wife's phone already looks like it is 5 years old, and before we get the standard reply, we are not upset because of a scratch we created. We've had these devices since they were invented and know how to care for them.

Something is going on here. The marks in the photo can't be felt, and they can't be buffed out and they were created with normal use. It is the swirl type marks that make me feel there is something defective with these screens.

We tried to return it, as we're within the window but of course Apple wouldn't take it back because it is scratched! We went to support, and got to a senior advisor who offered no solution, no compensation - nothing. Only to take it in again to another store to see if that person feels it is a "defect".

Please lodge your complaint with Apple, and contrary to the "experts" who've chimed in here Apple does monitor these threads if they grow to a certain size. But please complain in person and get a case file if you can.

Again, if we scratched the phone we wouldn't be wasting our time with this, or if we mistreated it. The glass is overly sensitive to marks, and not as advertised.

This is why Apple wants to replace the screens; they have lights physically in them. Which is why the flood illuminator is always on. I had to put my phone in a drawer, using my old one.

After I had called Apple to ask about the IR light, my old phone cracked in a weird way, after 2 years of use and no issues. I have been iphone owner since day 1, only time I broke a screen was when I fell and was holding the phone. (and 3 phones ago....)

I also have the same issue after a week of being very careful with the phone and pulled it out of my pocket one day after it was in there with nothing else and found a deep scratch and scuff mark as follows. Very concerning after 1 week of use and being very careful with the phone. Also been in a case since the minute it was unwrapped. Very disappointed.

hey guys,

I have a very unique issue.

I noticed some smudges and a line at the top right hand corner and thought it'd been scratched (I take good care of my phones and never had the problem before, always in cases etc)

Anyway I then take a cloth and clean it and the marks disappear completely.

There's no scratches or anything.

But then I run my fingers over it again or breathe on it and they come back!

It's so weird.. it's almost like an issue under the glass.

I'm taking it to see the apple genius on Monday, but as it's an issue like this do you think they will replace it?

I refuse to pay over £1k for a supposedly incredible OLED screen if it's not 100% perfect.

If they try and say it's user caused I might lose my sh**

I have had several iPhones since the 3G and my last iPhone, a 6S still has an immaculate screen and I have passed it on to my partner.

Got my iPhone 11, had it a matter of weeks and now fine scratches have appeared as others have shown.

I was wearing chino shorts, no keys or coins in pockets, just the phone.

then over the course of the following days a massive crack!

phone is in a protective case.

only time I have have had a cracked screen is when I have had it knocked out of my hand, not in a case and it dropped on to concrete, which is fair enough.
