iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Bottom line is it’s an issue and if a $1.50 flashlight can show that simple pocket lint can scratch what’s suppose to have an ohm rating of about 6 doesn’t say much about the quality. I like many are in the same boat with my 11 as I have been with every other model from the 6 plus up to my 11. All the same issues yet the phone never saw the inside of a pocket and my 6, 7, and X went into cases with screen protectors. They all suffered the same fate. My 4 is actually in better shape and that has survived 3 drops out a truck, a 4 year old and a 1 year old German shepherd getting a hold of it for 30 seconds. Yet that 4 not a mark on it

Believe what you want to believe. It's NOT simple pocket lint scratching your phone. There are small particles of sand likely there, which is VERY common (for example, detergent, when dried, can turn to sand) and that CAN scratch your screen.

Putting a screen protector on your expensive phone, whether anyone agrees or not is just smart.

Will you stop spreading inaccurate information. I have got my screen replaced by Apple after I threatened small claims court and trading standards for false advertisement. I would love to see some emperical evidence of sand found in everyone’s pockets. It simply doesn’t exist because there isn’t sand in people’s pockets. This is not the first or second time you have stated this. So either provide proof or shut up.

Mine I am still not sure how it got scratched it was inspected before purchase and not one mark on it. Since the day I got it it either sits on my desk at work, on a wireless charging pad at home or its in my hand. Mine has never seen the inside on my pocket nor has it ever been dropped. Now the smart idea of a screen protector, well let’s see my 6 plus, my 7 and my X all had the ZAGG flash shield on them my 6 and 7 were also put in life proof cases my X went into an otter box still the same fate as my current 11. All have scratches in them and all of the except for my 11 went into screen protectors and case right out of the box after being carefully inspected

Hi Duckling,

Would you mind telling me what store this was and what procedure you followed.

I am having no luck with Apple. Senior Advisers booked my appointment and left me high and dry, didn't put notes on the booking that she would ask them to be open minded no an exception.

Also, I was just patronised in the store about how to care for the device.

I have had iPhones since the iPhone 3G and I have NEVER had scratches like this iPhone 11 pro is getting. I treat my phones well and more than that the same as I always have for the last 10 years. I had the iphone 7 for 3 years and not even close to the level of scratches like this 11 pro has already. I had the XS and it didn't have a single scratch on it. This phone's glass is not "the hardest glass used ever in a mobile device" as Apple claims. I want my phone fixed for free, Apple!! I expect his kind of thing from an Android manufacturer, but not from you Apple. Not from you.

You can disparage me if you want (calling someone a Troll is disparaging and against the terms of use of this forum), but the fact remains, air is not scratching the screens on iPhones. Keys aren't. Coins aren't. If there are particles of sand in your pants pocket and trust me, there likely are as sand is pretty much everywhere (regardless of its origination), THAT can scratch the screen on your iPhone.

You can draw any conclusion you want. But in my case, your conclusion is wrong. Anyone who was smart enough to make a minimal investment in a decent screen protector isn't on this thread throwing daggers at Apple. Yes, I like to be overly protected, but just my case and screen protector, which are minimal investments in protection would have prevented the majority of you from whining about your phones scratching. This thread is by no means a reflection of most of the people who own iPhone 11s. Apple has sold millions upon millions of them. Either scratches don't bother them, or in a LOT of cases, they too, believed a very small investment to protect the screen of their VERY expensive iPhone was a smart thing to do.
