Pioneer BDR-XD05S bluray drive and High Sierra 10.13.6

Hi

I have just bought the Pioneer BDR-XD05S bluray drive and I can't get it to work on my iMac. It runs High Sierra 10.13.6 but the drive does not show up in Finder and nor i DVD player app. Any suggestions what to do?

Two things to check:

  1. Finder Preferences : General : Show these items on the desktop
    1. [√] CDs, DVDs, and iPods
  2. Insert media into your connected Pioneer device.

Does this make any difference?

Pioneer only mentions that this Blue-ray model works through OS X 10.12. No higher operating system version is stated in the device overview. Firmware updates are available.
