iPadOS Files app and SMB

I only have access to certain folders on my company's shared drive. For example I have access to smb://shared-server/path-to/my-folder, but not smb://shared-server.

With the Files app, I can only seem to connect to the root folder, smb://shared-server, which shows me a blank list of folders as I have no rights to anything in the root folder. When I try to add the path to my folder, it does not work.

The Documents app by Readdle, for example, allows me to put in paths like smb://shared-server/path-to/my-folder when I want to connect to a new SMB share and it takes me right to my folder and it's contents.

Is this how the Files app is supposed to work? Or am I doing something wrong?
