iOS 13 Apple Music and BMW's iDrive problems

I think beta 3 is the last beta. Because the build number finishes with the letter “a”. And Apple usually count down the letters k h d c and when they come to the letter a it’s usually the last beta before the official release. So if they don’t encounter some new major problem I think the next release is going to be the official one.

I do hope so as I am also finding its taking an age to connect to the stereo via the USB....it will connect and drop on Bluetooth a couple of times them drop again then eventually switch to the dock connector. I have now turned off Auto Updates and will wait a good while before I see a stable release come out.

I really hope this issue is resolved soon. I know it's first world problems but not being able to control music playback via the steering wheel or idrive knob is actually far more frustrating then I imagined it would be. I drive often and love to bounce between songs while on the road. Keeps me sane in NYC traffic. ha!

I have a same problem on my Mercedes since the recent update it does not allow me to flick or change the songs on my apple music using the knob in the car i have to change then through the playlist or by going in the app in my phone its annoying.

Apply needs to address these issue or these issues should be tested before the update is rolled out how do you expect me to go back on software update.

Got the same problem.Tried disconnecting, re-pairing, rebooting and still can't control music. I can change Playlists and select a specific playlist song. But after that, it's not possible to change songs, only playlists. Mine supports CarPlay, works without a hitch on CarPlay.

I have every issue listed throughout this post. BMW M550i xdrive. Knob or steering wheel won’t change the song from playlist iPhone XS Max. iOS13.1x connected via Bluetooth.

What WILL work are the arrow keys on the dash. It’s a hassle

Thanks for the Snarky response....I did google it as Beta Program and that was what I clicked on....tbh I normally have no interest in running BETA software as its usually buggy as F**K.

Anyhow....I jumped into my Boxster S this morning due to the BMW having a puncture....it has a Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB fitted and now when I plug in the phone to the headunit it causes it to constantly crash and reboot...it works fine over bluetooth, so its not just BMW thats affected its also CarPlay on Pioneer head units that are now FUBAR....I will try it in my ate 2015 Peugeot 208 GTI tonight to see if the same CarPlay issues exist there too!

This has been my experience also. As others have said I can also confirm that my experience is also that iOS 13.2 public beta 4 appears to fix this. I can now select songs in playlists stored on my iPhone from steering wheel controls and iDrive controls. Hopefully it comes out of beta soon for everyone no into using pre-release iOS software.

Like many I can confirm that it now works, although I do think apple need to rethink how it interacts with customers who pay. a lot of money for there products and are then treated like fools when they bring it up, not great customer support tbh

They haven’t solved the issue in 13.2, not for my Mini Countryman 2019 at least.

I still can’t select tracks from the steering wheel. The issue is with Apple Music The up / down arrows work fine for BT phone calls and radio though, but they also worked in the previous iOS 13. builds.

I’ve seen emails with people still reporting this! Several threads (over 2 weeks ago including mine), state that this issue has been RESOLVED by Apple in update 13.2 (17B5084a) beta. IF your not on any beta profile please download if from Apple.

I suggest everyone reads previous threads and save yourself the hassle!

iOS 13.2.3 and brand new BMW G21 here. Content of playlists do not show after selecting a song from them and both IDrive and HUD only show „please wait...“ but I cannot see any song on either. Skipping songs from the steering wheel works though.

I’ve tried replicating the issue on various BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and Lexus vehicles. All had the same issue. This is definitely a problem with iOS13.1 and above.

I don't think the iPhone 11 Max Pro can downgrade to iOS12.4.1.

I need to downgrade to iOS13.0.

We only need to make this issue big and apple can solve it in a few weeks.

Work around with Apple Watch works for me too
