Siri says uhhuh instead of yes
What is this new response I get when I say Siri? she says uhhuh instead of yes? I have iPhone 11 Pro Max I really don’t like response and want to change it.

Change the voice. The Uh-Huh seems to be associated with the South American Female voice option.
For instance the American Male has proper, respectful, intelligent sounding replies. I’m sure others do as well, you’d just have to try out different ones.
Or just don't wait between "Hey, Siri" and your question. Siri only says that if you pause. So, no pause, no uh-huh.
This is really annoying. It is like trying to talk too an 8 year old who is watching Spongebob. No one over the age of 10 can think that this response is appropriate.
I believe MANY people have. I have. I got the Apple connection on here as to where to complain.
I agree with all the naysayers. I feel as if the next step is to have a rolling eye emoji that says "whatever" and sighs. You can turn off the answering completely but I feel as if that is not the solution. I do understand about including the command but sometimes I am slow!
Yes agree, Cali! And it irritates me that when you summon Siri, there is a pause where she doesn’t say anything, so you start to go ahead with your question and she talks on top of you saying “Uh huh” So you have to repeat your question. Annoying. Go back to having her say “Yes?” As soon as u summon her, Apple.
You can want whatever you want. You can tell Apple what you want here:
However, until such time as Apple decides they agree with you, you can avoid hearing "uh huh" by using "Hey Siri..." the way Apple has currently designed it. Or not. It's entirely up to you.
Yes. I’m jumping back and forth from 11 pro to XR.... “Hey SIRI” is “modernized” and changed in all the 11 series flagships. My XR beeps on response rather than “uhuhh” and it’s because it’s just a small change in Siri due to a more premium experience in a later phone.
Is it really that big a deal? I find it rather funny. Maybe Apple's taake from the SNL skit "Alexa Silver" poking fun at the Boomer generation. I would think people would have bigger fish to fry than being annoyed by an operating systems response. Have we truly become so petty?
If you change the voice type (Irish, or others) - go to settings, Siri & search, and then pick a different voice type (my wife likes Irish) and you will not get the Uhhuh.
try it out and see if there is one you can live with. We did.

Is it me or is Siri less inclined to invite response on iOS 14? If you go quiet the "orb" just seems to turn off
It felt as if I got the "uh huh" even faster this morning when I said "Hey, Siri....." and paused.
That’s nice that you like it and I’ve read on previous discussions there are people that do and people that don’t. I’ve got three people in my household that don’t. It would be nice if you had your choice to keep it or change it. I’ve had iPhones since the iPhone 3s. It used to be on most things you could configure or change things how you want them. This was just done so at the beginning we thought there was a glitch. Who knows maybe later we will have a choice to configure it. Just a thought.

It’s absolutely awful. I realize it’s a bit of a nitpick,
And it's stupidly easy to avoid. Instead of saying, "Hey, Siri....." and waiting, give the entire request all at one go: "Hey, Siri, what time is it in London?" You will get the answer and not be enraged by a piece of metal and glass.

I keep getting information from people that say if you speak quickly you don’t hear uhhuh. I don’t want to have to speak quickly. I never used to have to do that.
You don't have to speak quickly. You just have to not leave a noticeable gap between the "Hey, Siri...." and the rest of the request. The reason you didn't have to do this in the past is that the processors on the older phones were slower. You had to wait so that it would keep.
Sometimes I’m still thinking.
That's also easy to resolve. Follow the advice I'm sure your parents gave you: Think before you speak. Or, in the vernacular, put your brain in gear before engaging your mouth. "LOL"

Oh so now, we have to watch our mouths in front of our phones? I'm usually driving and can't look to see if ive been acknowledged. A tone would be fine or a proper greeting such as "Hello" The ignorant-sounding "uh-huh" is frequently not loud or long enough to hear in a loud truck. I guess Apple would tell me to get a quieter car to go with my phone that can't manage "hello" or "can I help you" ?
So tell Apple. They are not reading here for suggestions. However the feedback link has been given repeatedly.
And seriously, if this is what you have to be upset about, consider yourself very fortunate.
No, it is actually reality spirited. The boomer generation in particular has a hard time with this, they went through such a long period where they were the huge majority of people that everyone was marketing towards that they assumed it would always be this way. Then one day they read their latest copy of Entertainment Weekly and said, "I don't even know who half of these people are!" They looked at their listings and said, "What is a Desus & Mero"? They asked the clerk at the store if they knew what a Desus & Mero was and the clerk said, "uh huh". Then they said could you find my some Purell and the clerk said "I'm on it."
As I said you can adjust your OFS and actually learn some of this, and accept it, or you can yell "Get off my lawn you young whippersnappers!" a lot. But the world has moved on from the boomer generation. And I have coffee with a gentleman on Wednesday that is practically pinning the OFS to the top and hates the response "No problem" instead of your welcome, that some schools don't teach cursive, bright clothing, ethnic clothing, long hair, beards "why do they want to look like a terrorist?", and all Republicans. He angers easily. I would rather chill and learn and not sweat the small stuff.
If you are upset with "uh huh" and "I'm on it" then you may need to reevaluate. Don't have TikTok but I am on FB, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and have a YouTube channel. And I have you beat by 13 years. I do have a fear of Realtors that I am working on.
